Projects 1956 Pontiac Chieftain gasser - SEGA build

Update is long time coming. We went back and forth and back and forth on it. We kind of decided we'd fix the front suspension and run it in the Super Stock class. Then I came across a smoking deal on a 66 Lemans and had to have it. So now I have that I can run in S/S if I want, so we've decided to go back to the gasser idea. My boys love that we are going gasser with it, so we made the right choice. The car is also pretty eaten up underneath by rust in the pans, so it'll be easier to go racecar with it. We finally cleaned up the shop enough to get rid of some of the junk cars here and get this guy in. So far we've pulled the front bumper and mustache off of it and unbolted the front end to pull it off so we can more easily yank the drivetrain and cut off the front suspension. Then we'll start hanging the axle.

So my youngest is apparently my new shop manager.

 

Got a little more work done yesterday. Got all the front suspension off and did a little weight reduction.

Looks good! I remember going through all this on mine. Need to get back on mine. Haven’t touched it in quite a while.

Read a good older article for replacing the kingpin front suspension with '58 model Pontiac A-arms. Can't recall what site,but I found it through a link from pontiacsafari.com. Don't scrap those original parts, I may need them

 

Glad to see another car from NC being built to run with the sega boys!
