Good progress today on the bed side.

 

Engine arrived yesterday. Thanks to @BIGREDTODD for motoring it down to my house. Thanks to @mctim64 for building it in record time and creating something this good looking. Now to get the truck ready for the install.

Working on a new Canned Monster shirt. One color, off white on black shirts for all you guys asking for black. Pics to come soon with ordering info. I have about ten of the white shirts left with the full color art on the website. I probably will never do white again, get one while you can.

 

Looking at this for the new t-shirt design.

 

I like it Lance! I think I will have to have one of those when you have them available.

 

A lot of requests to have the art on the back. So, maybe this will be a go.

 

Thinking of offering up some hoodies for sale as well along with the tee's.

 

Down to metal, solid and straight. Starting working on the engine bay as well. Still the original paint so not as much work to prep. Just clean, sand and paint. Organize the wires as bit as well. Overall not a bad start thought, I've seen so much worse over the years. Plus there is plenty of room to get in and move around.

Got some work done this weekend on the Monster Hauler. Sheet metal is off and started the cleaning process to get it ready for paint. Greatly dislike scraping 50 plus years of grease and grime but its one of those necessary evils. And, once its done and painted will be worth the effort. Just sucks now. 16 hours working on it in the last two days. Getting there.

 

Back to work on the canned monster engine. swapping in a little better connecting rod. @mctim64

 

PAINT!

 

Original heads from "the Flying yellow brick" . new stainless 2.02 intakes 1.6 exhaust ported polished, these heads made 350 horsepower on a 258 cubic-inch Y-Block. should run pretty good on this. .125" over 272 block with 12:1 compression.

I was hoping the engine color I picked would look good. I think its working well.

 

Our carb has arrived for the Monster. All tricked out inside, should run really well. Can't wait to try it out.

 

MSD is now in place. Now to get the MSD wires ran. The cap will get swapped out to a black one first.

Has the motor been dyno'd yet? What do you expect it to make?

 

@deto engine is not complete and running yet, but will be soon. I'll let @mctim64 chime in on that question.

 

I don't have a dyno so we'll just have to see how fast it runs. Dynos are for pussys! lol

 

Haha. Do you have a ball park figure on HP?

 

@deto the heads made 350 horsepower on a 258 cubic-inch Y-Block. With 34 more cubes I would think a HP per cube at least. @mctim64 what do you say?

Did you consider painting the Monster hauler same as the Canned Monster?
I like your plans for both regardless.

 

@kiwijeff The Monster Hauler will be the same colors as the Canned Monster. Paint scheme a little different though. Truck will be more traditional/factory two-tone jobber. That along with the same colors as the flamed car should look pretty nice I think.
