Projects 1956 Chevy (South East Gasser) "The Vagabond"

"Resin glass" came out pretty good. I haven't sanded it at all and I need to fill the rest of the crack but I think it it coming along. The large gap isn't so out of hand now either.

No more pics tonight I promise. I ran out of sandpaper and they all look like mud anyhow.
To anyone who has done this before I'm sure I look like a dope getting excited about this. Thing is I have never done it before and it had me worried. Big relief knowing that its going to be something I can handle. Hell, it's a white race car how good does it really need to be anyway?!

Sheeeww....sanding all day and now night on this one side. It's coming around but an air file would be soooooo nice. Just can't see investing in one for just this job though. May be a good thing I'm taking it slow too.

My wife spoiled me on my birthday and got a guy to come out and put in plenty of fluorescent lighting,220 box and beefed up breaker box. I can't believe the difference! Built so much stuff with just a drop light in the middle of the night...

..THEN my buddy Reed (x--gasser) texted me this..

Tried dzus fasteners and didn't like them worth a shit so I came up with this.








I will have to pull them from inside the car but I kinda like it that way. Keeps nosy asses guessing. Thinking of rigging up some nylon cord to them with eye hooks so that I can yank them real fast in case of a fire. Going to have regular hood pins on top. I did it this way so that I can lift front without any help.

Ps. Rubber horse stall mat works great on keeping your compressor from walking and cutting down on vibration and noise.

Thanks Loudbang. Going to alter door jambs so that I can get to them easily from inside the car. Not to worried about safety personnel being able to open the clip because they would just spray fire extinguishers underneath anyway..one of the nice things about a 56,

Thanks Jimmy. I actually feel like I have been slacking lately. You're right though man with all my new upgrades I should be able to pick up the pace. Going to try and slick up the clip today and hopefully be almost done with that deal.
