Ya, I'm a big fan of gettin em running and then working on a running useable car. It keeps you motivated and thinking/planning the next thing to work on. Enjoy it!

I like the paint, not forever, but to drive a few years while you work on it, its got some character. Get it reliable and have some fun, the interior looks really good. Keep the updates coming as you go thru the mechanical rebirth.

Now that is a cool ride...hey, is there a carb in the trunk? I need one for my truck....hahahaa j/k dude.
I know exactly where that pic was taken....I have climbed around the waterfall there, what a cool roadside attraction. Hopefully I'll have my truck driveable by the time SodaPops starts back up which BTW is Mar 22....maybe we can meet up for a cruise....

Hi. No matter what, that will turn into a great ride for you. Great find. Nothing wrong with doing it up on the cheap when possible as that is getting really hard to do nowadays.

I lucked out & found my 46 Chevy coupe last year with already redone interior, new paint & chrome when I bought it. This partial restore was done in 1990 by previous owner (2nd owner) but now I am having to replace all the weatherstripping & window rubber & channels & redo the engine. Hopefully the engine will get done next week & I can get back to driving it. At that time I will get some photo's. I am at the point on finishing this build where I am not finding anything cheap.

Where are you in Texas? I am just out of Yoakum Tx.
    Good luck on the build.

Thats a nice ride, the best part about it is that your woman is sewing, I imagine that when you guys play Monopoly(tm) together, she probably picks the "thimble" as her game piece, most women will not choose to be the "iron".....Just like most men wouldn't pick "the bald spot" if that was an option.

That car looks like a prime candidate for a nice kustom.
    Your pal forever,

    Yep.

Drove it 150 miles last week AND almost have the rear side panels finished.

    That's all.

Ah, the driving part= cool. I like the keep it simple idea on that one. Some cars just don't need a whole lot. Just a stance adjstment, nosed and decked and a nice interior and some nice paint and you have a sweet mild custom like we saw a lot of in the late 50's and early 60's.

    [IMG]Nice project.
I've got a 56 Merc Montclair Pheaton. Love the body style of the 55 & 56.
If you aren't saving the back seat courtesy light, I am interested in buying it from you.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,

Awesome ride, I'm jealous, about the only thing I've found in a barn is cow pies.

Back seat, and door panels finished and will post pictures someday.

In the meantime a glimpse from my seat on the way home from work this week.

Runs and drives like a Mercury... very comfortable

I never did much research on the model, though I know it's a 1955 Mercury Custom. Recently I saw a description as Custom Sports Coupe. If so, there were less than 8000 built. I have not seen another in person and not easy to find on internet. IMG-20170427-01540.jpg

Wow a 55 post Merc. I can count on no fingers how many I ever saw. I'll bet if it wasn't an special order by someone it was a "leader" to get you in the dealership to buy something more upgraded. A stick 54-up Mercs are very limited production.
