Gimme a little "info" on cutting the headers! How long are the primaries now and why did you cut them to that length? Is the collectors the right length and why?! How did you figure what the right length was?
I'm really into the "technical" side of the whys and why nots.
    Thanks

The professionals tend to agree with around 28-31” primary length. Primary length has to do with rpm band. Shorter the primary, higher the rpm band, longer the primary, lower the rpm band (higher torque) we made these 29” primary because of the 1/8” mile class racing with a 4 speed and low rear gears, bottom end isn’t really an issue. As far as collector length goes, the collectors are as long as they came out of the box. We’re gonna use the old school method ofcollector tuning. Paint a white latex paint stripe or chalk stripe down the collector,Running it at the track a few passes, and cutting them 1” longer than where the mark is burnt away. Collector length isn’t really all that critical.

Did you think about a merge collector, or are they not allowed?

Thought about them, they are legal but they’re expensive. And I talked to a few people and you’re looking at a 2-3hp gain on an application like mine most likely.

Gotta paint the radiator but just put it back on to get an idea of the finished product. It’s gonna look light and radical. The list of things to do is getting shorter and shorter!

Headers, ignition, radiator, gas tank, battery, driveshaft, engine is full of oil, and everything on it. 2220lb. Only things left to add is the firewall, brake lines, minimal wiring, lexan, and water/fuel. Should weigh 2270-2300 race ready minus driver. Later on it will get light weight racing aluminum brakes, it’ll be even lighter. Not bad for a big car with a Big block Chevy in it.

Four hose clamps been holding my exhaust pipes to the hangers for twenty years of street miles..And another clamp for the steering column at the firewall..

We’re gonna upgrade to the t-bolt style clamps for the final assembly. But I see zero issue safety wise. 4 hose clamps should hold the column in without any issue.

Got the firewall pretty well finished. Gonna make the tunnel tomorrow and fit it up to the firewall before we rivet the firewall in permanently.

Seen everything will fit well and work out so we can finish the firewall up and start filling the floor with tinwork.

  22. Those cardboard floors should save some weight.

Firewall is done and we got the pieces made and in that conceal/box in the door hinges. Starting on the floors tonight.

  25. Agree... drill a bunch of 2" holes to let the residual pizza sauce run out.... pizza boxes as templates, very traditional.

It’s starting to look like a car. Gotta make up the tunnel over the weekend.

Yeah it’s just on there to seal up the engine. Too hard to work around the tall tunnel ram, but it’s going back on once we’re finished lol
