Took the front bumper off of mine today and stuffed it up into the garage rafters. 55xgasr is right, it'll never go back on! Yes, more is planned for this car.

It also has a 56 front end. Reminds me of the one my brother-in-law and I wrecked and then put a 56 front on it cause we couldn't find a 55 front at the junk yard.

now, if you take the splash pan off, too, you will have a really bad ass look. That's the way I did mine back in the day. But, you've got to trim the pan just under the grill, otherwise you get too much air pushing up on the hood. I lost mine when I ran it without the pan altogether, so had to go back and trim and reinstall the back half of the center piece...no more problem, and had the baddest looking 55 in town. It only had a 6, but it never got beat by any of those 327 Impalas or any other 6. Those 4.11's really helped. I love 55's more than any other car, except maybe the 53 Stude.
Although, yours looks really good with the pan, too.

SamIyam, any pics of the rear from underneath/back? How tall are your lowering blocks? I'm looking to lower mine to close up the gap. but not sure if a 6in block is safe?

    HOTRODRUBBER,
Do you know what the sidewall to sidewall (mounted on rim) measurement would be on the Cheater slicks? I'm limited to a close 29" tall(maybe a skosh more) and the width is sticky for fit.
You're well recommended for cheater slick supply and info.
    Thanks! Carl

Hello, I sell quite a few of two different heith's for stock bodied Tri5 applications
    1st 28.75x8.50x15
    True 28.75 tall
    Tread True 8.50
Cross Section on this tire with 7 to 7 1/2" rim is 9" to 9 3/8"
This tire also available in 8.00 wide , on 6 1/2" to 7" rim Cross Section 8 1/2" to 9"

    2nd 28x8.00x15
    True 28.00 tall
    Tread 8.00 wide
    Cross section on this tire with 6 1/2" to 7 1/2" rim is 8 1/2" to 9"

The area you will run into clearance issues with too large of tire is in the forward leading edge on wheelwell. But I have had no complaints about fit with any of the above. Always best to give me a call
    Hope this helps

Very cool to see those pics. At least he is putting the hurt on those radials. Once they are well worn he can switch back to some piecrusts.

For those of you that might be interested but aren't aware they are there, I have over 1000 Tri-Five Gasser pics on my photo site below. I hope you guys don't mind that I have added some of your pictures to the collection.

Here are some 315/60R-15 Hoosier DOT Drag radials on 10" Cragars (4.25 back space). The Ford rear end is 61 inches wide( 1 inch wider then stock). Going to raise the rear of the car 1 inch for more clearance. I will either have the current springs re-arched or buy a new pair of wagon springs.

    baron nice car bro.

Back when I was around 3 years old my dad had a friend who had an altered wheel base 56 chevy post, bluish purple.......wished I had my pics here to scan.

a real good friend had a solid 55 150 post green and white with no motor or trans,he knew I wanted it but ended up selling it for a grand to another person.

I remember seeing your car up at skyview a couple of times. I tried to attach a couple of photos here of it. I think they may be from a test and tune in the fall of '04

Also, I found this sitting in a collection/ yard. Not quite a gasser, but none the less cool.

[IMG]I recently hauled this one home for $400, it's a lot rougher than it looks in this pic, needs a motor....
    Even though it's a 4dr, a future gasser???
I might even take the time to "convert" it to a 2dr, if I can find a pair of doors....
I even have a couple of Olds and Buick 455's, and an Olds 425 around, one might find it's way inside....

I don't know that this was a gasser, but it shows signs of being a race car of some kind. Tow bar attachments on the front frame, hole in floor for shifter, traction bars, standard trans and pg stuff both on body/frame, front bumper is on but only loosely. I imagine it had a stout engine in it if they towed it. It appears to have been fully street legal. No engine, trans, or history except it maybe came from Joplin, MO. It has spent its life indoors, no rust on the exterior body ever.
