Well time to start another customer build thread after I finished the 1930 ford body. This is a 55 caddy coupe getting a full custom treatment.Full Custom leather interior done by the owner! The customer found me on here went and picked his car up and now the fun begins!

here is a photo shop done by james d of what the car will look like when i am done. Mild chop. 2 in the front back until it looks good. packard lights.sectioned decklid and yes a REMOVABLE HARDTOP!!

here is where i am starting all the bracing for the removable top... beefing up the package tray area a ton so it will not fall in on it self when the top is off..

Cool, I always disliked the stock trim on 50's Caddys, that vertical piece just killed the 'flow' of the car. Very nice...

  15. Flop, that package tray reinforcing ....to me, is the sign of a craftsman. Too few people actually think stuff out before they dive in. I'm impressed, man.

The picture below is where I originally saw the air scoop design.
I believe this is Richard Zocchi's work?
I'm a huge fan of his.
If it's not Zocchi's, Roger and I would both like to give that person credit for this great air scoop design. And of course I subsequently saw it on Roger's badass Roadliner.
I'd like to graciously thank Roger for answering a few of my questions during disassembly. Thanks Roger.

It's truly been a pleasure getting to know Flop over the last few months.
    He's one cool fucker!

And i am SHITFIRE excited for this build.

PS - i'd love to thank Rik Hoving for his amazing website. He's building a true archive of the american custom car scene.

Ya know, it's been said there's nothing new under the sun...and I guess "they" are correct.

FWIW, (and you can believe this or not, it makes no difference to me) I don't ever remember seeing that Lincoln...and if that is a Zocchi car then the scoop shape is almost identical to mine, and may in fact, pre-date mine. Any idea when that car was built...???

At this time I owe JamesD and Ted an apology for jumping their case...it appears I have been wrapped up in my own ego...

And Ted, thanx for acknowledging my help...your Cadillac is going to be tits...

  19. Zocchi's car was built in 1999 I believe.

That photoshop with the Packard taillights and sectioned deck lid make the car look a mile long! I like it!

The preliminary design looks great and I don't give a rippy doo dah who designed or thought up the scoop in the preliminary design or on the other on or Zocchi's car it looks a hell of a lot better than that chrome band down the side of the car.

I SOO WANT TO DO A 54 or 55 CADDY! Flop please take 100000 pics of your process. Not because I want to copy anything but because I love to see quality work and use it for ideas on my own builds.
