Where are all the 55/56 Ford cars? I see plenty of chevs and some Dodges for sale but rarely see the Fords. Just curious where they all went. Hoarded? Scrapped? Languishing? Unloved?
Had an old 56 when I was 15. Ended up selling it later. I prefer the 55. Wouldn't mind having another one. The few I've seen are either quite crusty or out of my price range.

  2. In the NW, most of 'em rotted away before they became 'classics'. I always had a soft spot for the '56 with it's more-elegant (IMO) styling. Best looking Ford dash of the '50s.

  3. Ive owned a dozen. Every one that I actually drove I swapped in a FE. I still have one . a 55 2 dr C60 007.JPG Ranch wagon. I swapped in a 262 six. Tried to sell it for $3000 and no Takers. Now I have a 390 T Bird FE I going to swap in and drive it a bit. I kinda like the Plexiglass speedometer .

    Hey @Chris ,
I know of a 56 four door in this guy's yard. If you can convince him to sell it to you I'll help you drag it out. It's been there forever. He's too old in my opinion to ever do anything with it. He's had it under a tarp for like 20 years. I think with the right angle you might be able to convince him.

JD. Your ‘56 is just right. Looks like it just stepped out of 1966-67.

  20. I've got a '56 2-dr wagon project that I've owned since the early '70s sitting in my shop that I should sell as I'm not going to finish it at this point in my life. It's a top-of-the-line Mainline (chrome around the front/rear glass, quarterpanel side trim) so it's not a super-cheap stripper. There's a lot already done; de-rusted body shell and frame, all suspension is done, 9" rear, '70 full-size discs, rebuilt '63 260, and the original OD trans, also rebuilt.

  21. Thank you. But honestly, if I sell my 46 to buy a wagon, I will want a pretty nice car. Something I could use immediately or with a little work. I do not have any desire to restore a wagon. The trim, glass, chrome, interior....lots and lots to do. So I am looking for decent car but not a 25,000 (or a lot more) frame off resto. A nice original or older resto is what I am seeking. The right one will come along eventually.

  25. I think the '55-'57 Fords are really gaining in popularity. You're starting to see more and more being built, customized & restored. There's been some really well done cars in the last few years.
