While most credit Carroll Shelby with being the first person to put a big American motor into a small British sports car chassis, Sydney Allard was stuffing eight- and twelve-cylinder engines into British cars before Shelby even started racing. Allard’s frighteningly quick sports and racing cars proved to be quite successful on tracks around the globe until well into the 1950s.
In 1952, the K3 was introduced as Allard’s attempt to offer a more civilized variant of the J2 and J2X models seen at the track. Fifty-seven of the sixty-two K3s produced were destined for North America and most were installed with engines of their owner’s choice once they arrived stateside. Most K3s were fitted with either Cadillac or Chrysler V-8 engines. This 1954 Allard K3 was recently given a thorough, cosmetic restoration including new paint, new interior and a full set of new, Dayton chrome wire wheels and tires. It has been mechanically serviced and runs and drives extremely well. The car is fitted with the 331 cid Cadillac, overhead valve V-8 engine. The car currently is equipped with the single carburetor manifold, but a dual carburetor manifold assembly is included. For driving convenience, this Allard has been fitted with a a Richmond T-10, four-speed transmission which allows the vehicle to be comfortably driven at all speeds. The paint, upholstery and chrome are in excellent condition. The chassis and engine bay are clean and presentable. The car looks and sits right.
This is an extremely fast and potent sports car that can be used on the track or as a long distance tour car. It will certainly be a welcomed contender at a variety of important driving and concours events. It is listed in the Allard registry as number 6017. The asking price is 125,000.00 USD but we will consider all serious offers. We are not interested in any trades. The car is located in Dayton, Ohio. Thank you very much
