I hate starting threads, but I've searched and searched and it's hard to find a '53 pontiac that is actually a custom and not just laying frame. I'm stumped on taillight ideas and need some pics for motivation. Does anyone have pics they could share to help me out?
    Thanks
    bob

Good for you! Glad to see your back on the grid. PM Kustom Chief and ask for pics of his. Very mild, but very, very cool.

I wanted a chevy, but this pontiac is so close to the body style I can still do all of the mods I want to do. Also, I got this car at a great price and it's a good solid foundation.

I was just making fun of different thread awhile back, no worries

I would take a Pontiac or an Olds over the Chevy of the same year any day. Look how rad those quarters are!

I'm actually thinking of removing the potiac "hump" in the rear quaters. I think it is just a odd looking break in the quater panel. Then maybe extending the quater panels out about six inches, but I still have no clue as to what taillights to do. Maybe '54 merc?

im glad you bought it .Before the other guy destroyed it .I n my opinion pontiacs are nicer than Chevy .......The car looks mean .......If I was closer I would of bought it myself ...Good luck with it ,And please stuff a 400 pontiac in it ,Not a small block chevy ..........

Im gonna cry .But I understand ............. Do yourself a favor and put a 2102 cam in it .I read an article in 1987 saying that with this cam and an edelbrock intake and carb ,You can get close to 300 horse power ,

Ah, the infamous Pontiac. Two thoughts. There is nothing wrong with major changes if you wish to create a racial custom.

Like the previous owner was told, don't take the Pontiac out of it simply because you wanted a Chevy though.

Either go all out and customize it or leave the Pontiac character intact. Fix the rust, drop it and drive it. If you swap out the inliner, put in a Pontiac. You can leave it all Pontiac and still be different.

(I read about the 305 after posting).

I think 59 Cadillac tail light lenses fit in there pretty close and look really good.

'59 Caddy tailights look good in '59 Caddys. Thats it. Other than that, they are insanely overused.

Yeah, they are overused, but when something looks good, that does happen.

In the end though, he'll still have the only Pontiac around with them.

Difference of opinion here, but thats doesn't look good to me. It looks like he added '59 Caddys to it to say he added '59 Caddys to it. What goes there, a reverse light? Why not just shave it? That would be a helluva lot cleaner.

  27. First thought - a cut down 58 Caddy fin and light. Not at all sure if this is what you were after.
