1953 Ford wheel stud replacement HELP!

    Well its not an emergency yet but id like to keep it that way. Replacing a front wheel stud on other cars I just pressed them out but it looks like these are welded in at the base of the threads??? Just curious if that was correct and you need to grind down the weld and press them out or what. Stock front drums.

    Factory studs have never been welded in. They were either pressed in or swedged to hold the drum/hub together.

    Use a 5/8 hole saw without the pilot drill to cut away the swedged area ,about a 1/16 or so below the drum surface should do it. Then press as usual.
