Thanks Whitey! It would have been a bit of a drive, but good to meet other HAMBers.

Now...to sell another motorcycle so I can get some funds for the car! Anyone want to buy a '72 Honda SL350?

I been popping in every once in a while and I'm glad to see you follow through and keep moving in the right direction. Mines in the front end off and sitting stage (been there too long!) Can't wait to see yours driving!

Thanks fury9, hope it's driving soon too!

No major progress lately, but I did get an air intake system made. I had planned to use some metal tubing, but for the size I needed, it was outrageous! So I found some thinner walled ABS tubing at the local Lowe's.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1414108692.583442.jpg

This would be the "kit". I started by cutting most of the flanges off the pipes, just leaving the tubing itself.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1414108774.250095.jpg

Next I cut a few straight pieces as needed, used ABS cement to join the pipes, then sanded the joints smooth. A quick coat of filler and then paint, and we have intake!

It's a tight fit, but plenty of clearance everywhere.

    Any progress is still progress!

Thanks for the kind words. I am still working on it, albeit a bit slower lately. I promise an update will come very soon! I got a few more parts in last week, and hope to get them installed soon!

Looking good! Nice to see it run, and I always looks forward to updates. Also, where'd you get your radiator? How well did it fit into the stock location?

Whitey, it's a Champion radiator, and I think it came from eBay. Yeah, it dropped right into the stock mounts, and looks fairly nice. Time will tell about cooling capacity, but it was rated for 450 hp.

Getting very close to 1st drive.

    Got the fan mounted.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422990262.731120.jpg

    Transmission linkage made and working.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422990313.146748.jpg

Finally, threw some junk steering wheel on the new column so it can be steered. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422990374.730500.jpg

All that's left is a DD steering shaft (on the way) and one rear tire ( have a toy tire on there for rolling around the garage). ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422990465.711915.jpg

This build is starting to get exciting - looking forward to it driving!

Got any plans for what color you're going to paint it after body work?

Thanks, and yes, the paint scheme is figured out already. If you look at the dash picture, the car will be the brown on the roof, with the cream from the bottom of the windows down.

    How's yours coming?

Awesome! Glad to see it up and moving!

Nice, are you going to do it a panel at a time or try and do the whole car in a certain period of time?

Mine is coming slowly. The biggest thing is body work and I have to figure out how to do that since I have no welding experience. Perhaps I'll take the frame to be powder-coated or start replacing old wiring.

Not sure about the painting. I'll probably unbolt the fenders/doors and paint them separate. Space is at a premium now that we've moved, so bodywork is on the back burner. I did get my wiring harness ordered, and hopefully can do something about glass soon. The biggest expense is going to be the front windshield. In a moment of brilliance, I thought it would be nice to have the one piece glass like the Olds have, but that means a LOT more $$. Plus, I have an issue with putting new glass/rubber on crappy bodywork. So I may end up prepping/painting the top half of the car just so I can put the glass in once, rather than take it back out (and risk damaging it) when it's time for paint.

Hope to see some updates soon on yours...

The last few days have been spent making sure the engine is working correctly, and ironing out a few wrinkles there.

Not very HAMB friendly, but here's my office lately.

The wiring harness should be here today, along with front shocks, so I'll be busy for a while.

Still need to get a full size tire on the right rear, though...

Thanks friend. Need this thing to be roadworthy soon.

Spent four solid days on the couch with the flu, so I'm just now getting out to the garage again.
Here's a taste of what I've been doing the last two days.

So is it all wired up yet? I'm just trying to motivate others because it's way too cold for me to get anything done.

Spent the last few days getting the wiring mostly done. This morning I had to chase a loose wire in the engine harness. Grr...but it's done. Still need to put tail lights in the car, secure the wiring to the body, and I don't have any front marker lights, but everything seems to be working OK so far.

Been working on front shock mounts. It's one of those things that I've put off for way too long, but I don't know why...

Anyway, my issue was one of space, so I needed something very compact to fit the inner fender liner. I found some Speedway short shocks, and fabbed up mounts that bolt to the upper control arm mounts. Nice and tight, with just enough clearance.

Fired up the zinc plating bath again, this time in the process of replacing all the front suspension bushings/ball joints.

    Here's the overview:
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1426024712.755872.jpg
From right to left; muriatic acid bath, water rinse, zinc plating bath.

I did get the tubing for the exhaust system the other day, so once the front is back together, it's exhaust time! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1426024850.849618.jpg

Been sick lately, so haven't had much time to work on the car. However, I did rebuild the front suspension with new control arm bushings, ball joints, etc.

And, I spent today building an exhaust system! It's quiet at idle, but makes a bit of noise at WOT, exactly what I wanted.

Now that it's running great, I've noticed the brakes aren't the best, so I need to look into that one.
