  2. I started this thread one month ago today ... and have been successful in positively identifying all but three (3) of the Bonneville racecars in the Hassad Family photo Collection.

I've exhausted all of my resources (i.e., '50s Bonneville programs, '50s rodding magazines, Bonneville & Dry Lakes Racing books, & Bonneville Racing veterans) ... but still have NO "concrete proof" who ran:

    ... this #126 B Roadster at Bonneville in '57, '58, or '59:

    195x - #126 B Roadster.jpg
... this Lakester (from Bakersfield, Calif.) at Bonneville in '57, '58, or '59:

    195x - #4xx Lakester.jpg
... or this #15 D Lakester at Bonneville in '58 ... Note that Charlie Markley thought this might be the same tank that got Lloyd Scott into the "2-Club" in '57:

    1958 - #15 Belly Tank D Lakester.jpg

Any help identifying any of them would be greatly appreciated!

The meddle car could be a reconfiguration of this one from Hot Rod Feb 55.

@HEMI32 I put these pictures on some land speed Facebook pages and someone said the purple car may have been Ernie Hashim.

  7. @Speed Gems - Thanks!

I had posted those same 3 pics on a few LSR Facebook groups last month ... I got some leads on the purple Lakester (sponsored by “Hubbard’s Chrysler Plymouth” of Bakersfield) ... but no one mentioned the late Ernie Hashim (of the “Smoker’s March Meet" fame).

UPDATE #1: Found some vintage photos of Ernie Hashim's belly tank bodied dragster:

UPDATE #2: Found this on page 64 of the November 1957 issue of HOT ROD magazine:

  8. So many great photo's, thank you for taking the time to share.

BTW, anyone besides me notice how many '57 Fords are in the back ground? HRP

  9. Just a bump of this thread ... to see if anyone can positively identify who ran:

    ... this #126 B Roadster at Bonneville in '57:

    1957 - #126 B Roadster.jpg

... or this #15 D Lakester at Bonneville in '58:

    1958 - #15 Belly Tank D Lakester.jpg

Any help identifying either of them would be greatly appreciated!

  10. okay...I'll bump.......

  11. I recently noticed your early Bonneville posts. I was friend with Ted Frye (200 MPH Club) and was wondering if you have a photo of Ted's belly tank ?

  12. Sorry ... the only photo of Ted's belly tank that I or @Jim Hassad have in our photo collections was already posted in this thread (see post #23).

That stated, I'll keep searching my archives (magazines, books, etc.) for additional pics of Frye's (circa 1957 & 1958) Bonneville Lakester.
