Looks like a solid car to start with. Makes the project a hell of a lot more enjoyable. I'll be starting mine soon. Keep showing us lots of pics.

All that really matters is if you're happy with the deal and it may not be a major issue, but this is what sucks with some sellers

    "..........new brakes, rebuilt suspension.."

Nice job someone did rebuilding the suspension

I don't mean to stink up your thread, I will delete it if you want.

Its no biggie, and it looks like an awesome car to start. Heck if it weren't so far away, I'da bought it. It just rubs me like 36 grit when people say things that aren't true. My seller said "the car is solid, NO rust in the car" I knew he was a liar at that point.

Anyway, How much you gonna chop it?

Haven't decided on the chop yet. It is pretty solid bottoms of fenders and doors need th be cut out and whoe ever installed the new rockers in the wrong position also forgot they need to have a inner rocker panle.

  17. you just pulled the flathead so you can rebuild it, right? ;)

  18. Just curious....With all the upgrades available for Mercurys, why would you sub frame it? Mercury frames are pretty damn strong.

there is alot more you can do option wise with a subframe from a 79 camaro with front steer . Reason to i am putting a ls1 from a 05 vette in it and it will work out better for me.

I love the old Mercs! Why not a Coyote 5.0?:) Good luck with the build.

  24. I'm not a hater! I'm looking forward to following your build. I love Mercs. They are all different. If you look at the Mercs in the HAMB Merc Club, you'll see many kinds of cars. Just cause it's not my style doesn't mean I don't like it. There's a guy with a Pro-Street Merc in the Club. If Ryan allows it on the HAMB,then I allow it in the club. Only fair, right?

good luck, looks like a fine project, my next merc has the same front suspension grafted on as you will be using.

  28. that's a solid car. if you subframe it, make sure to do it right. no need to kill a perfect frame and then screw it up.

build it your way, but do it right.

  29. Could always just build a whole frame and sell the original
