I'll bet that they didn't do near as nice of a job on the Utes in Australia though!

  3. I think they did a pretty good job, except the rear fenders.

I think the roof line is fugly!

  5. I have to agree and wonder why they didn't use a more automotive styled rear quarter.Something on the style of the two door sedan.

  6. I don't know, but some people building modified ones eliminate the factory bulgy bit so it's smooth like a sedan and it makes a world of difference, i.e. better.

Yeah, looking at the copper colored one I’m not sure what they were doing but it has a ‘47-48 looking rear window (too high) the rear quarter windows are taller than the door windows and they scabbed on fender extensions. I think Jake did a much better interpretation.

  8. IMO that has so much more eye appeal than the original copper colored one. If the factory had done this it would have sold anywhere. It is really perplexing as to why it was not offered in the U.S. as there would have been a receptive group of buyers. With the expansion of the "urban" culture after WWII it would have filled a need for a market to haul whatever home from the city that would not fit in a trunk. With the advent of the 1949 design as the first model that even took GM until 1955 to catch up Ford definitely missed the mark by not releasing it in the U.S.

  10. This is an awesome build that I'd somehow managed to miss. Creativity and craftsmanship make for good results.

Well, after a few weeks of searching for pinholes, spot welding, grinding, redoing a few spots, sandblasting all the welds and sanding the whole thing with 80 grit the body is in epoxy primer...Now on to getting the doors and tailgate in epoxy.

I like your hinges. I especially like how you stuck to your guns when everyone was squabbling over them. Hell it's yours, do what you want with it.
    Super cool build!

  29. I sure hope you're going to put the Vent windows back in your car. Post #297 above shows why you should.
