I've got many hours into this but its the typical story of too many projects, not enough time to finish. I bought the car over ten years ago from 2 brothers in Northern Mississippi who drove it in highschool back in the sixties. It had been off the road since that time. They were the second owners, and I have the early 1960's Memphis title to go with it. I'll try to summarize what's been done. All rust repaired in floors and trunk floor with properly butt welded sheet metal and seam sealer being careful to match factory overlapping seams. The original front suspension has been removed down to the frame and Speedway gasser axle kit with disk brakes mocked up and bolted on but not final welded. Its a roller at this point. Some little things have been gone through and completed like cleaning and polishing the factory gauge cluster, painting the factory gold color back on the dashboard and new wiring harnesses. The tires are bias ply and from Coker. The red on the back wheels is the exact match canton red that it came with from the factory. Engine - Engine was built by Shacklett Automotive Machine in Nashville in 2019. Its a 1957 371 with a j-2 intake. Camcraft cam and lifters. No carbs yet. Its cranking with the starter and oiling, good oil flow at the valvetrain. Painted the correct 1957 gold color from Hirsch. I got to the point where I realized I would not soon get into drag racing but I'm building a nostalgic drag car. Hopefully someone will finish it with a similar vision. I do have the original 303 v8 and transmission which can go with it and all the original parts are here with the car. I also have a couple slant pan Olds transmissions, one came out of a running hot rod to upgrade to an OD transmission so the slant pan is ready to go in this one. I'm located near the interstate halfway between Chicago and Minneapolis. Call or text is preferable rather than this forum but I will check messages every few days here. 615-686-8680.
