    FOUND SOME
OK OK, won't bother asking about finding a pair....
But does anyone know of an aftermarket outfit that makes new ones. Or any info on how to rebuild them ?
And yes, I have searched the internet ... :(
    Thanks much

The 1950 Ford was advertised as being improved in 50 ways. Maybe use 1950 hinges?

    Thanks for all the suggestions...
Got a really nice pair of '49 hinges this morning.
    Traded for them.
The fellow I got them from brought them down to make the switch driving this awesome '49 :)

  6. I'm sorry to tell you that 49 hinges are absolute crap. Ford engineers made TWO big mistakes. If you look closely at the hood the reinforcement along the edge stops just before the front edge of the hinges. Don't be surprised if you see a tiny crack right there. The second mistake is the configuration of the profile of the back edge swing just as you open the hood because the back of the hood will eat into the little lip every time you open the hood. The only way to fix it is to use 50 or 51 hinges. It took a while for me to finally find some on the internet but it's possible if you just try. And on my website I show you exactly how to do it!

Ford hood hinges from 1949 to 1954 are all crap. They bend, won't hold the hood up, and are a bummer to change. But that's just me. :D

    Appreciate the comments..
I am buying a '50 Hood for it, and plan on doing some revising to make them work as best I can.

    PM SENT :)

  11. '49 thru '51 hinges do NOT hold the hood up. They are held up with a tilt up rod. Educate yourself.
