   Do you really need to use 1st gear in these old trucks?
   
   Or is it ok to start out in 2nd gear.
   
   You won't hurt the clutch/trans if you don't use 1st gear will you?

   it shoul not, try it and see. you may have to use first on a hill, etc. or a load.

   If you have a farmer four, start in Second unless under a load. If it's a three speed, start in First.
