Projects 1949 Custom transmission removal questions

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by askforjonny, Dec 10, 2015.

  1. This weekend I am preparing to pull the motor and tranny as one out of my 49 sedan.

I had a few questions about the process. maybe a walk through if there is anything different or special. This is my first old car (pre 1970).

    Another question:
I am preparing to convert the wiring to 12 volt when I get the Flatty and trans out of the way. I have electrical to the tranny I would assume it is the overdrive. being the car is 6v positive ground, would I need to buy some resistors for this like I would for the gauges?

I know the questions are kinda different I'm just trying to get more info to make the process smooth.

Nothing special. Taking the hood off and radiator out makes life alot easier. Otherwise, just a bunch of bolts to loosen up.
