Great looking project. Have a '49 Styleline myself, just need time to work on it. Looks like you are making good progress, should be driving in no time!!

NIce project! May I respectfully suggest that a white top on that car will make the roof look "taller".

When you get that thing done and are able to take it to the high school parking lot, you'll be glad it's a 4 door. :) My 4-door Caddy is great for loading up the GF and all her friends :) The 4-door-factor made it more attainable, and now that I've got it I honestly think it's the best option. :)

Good luck on the project and be safe and responsible when you get it on the road. But I'm sure you will be after all the work you and your father put in to it!

Worry about wheel color after the car is painted.... wheel colors are easy to change.

By the way, nice first car!

Nice stance, really cool to see you doing a project with your dad.

Really cherish these times with your old man, I had fun working on stuff with my dad before he passed away. Makes me wish I spent even more time with him.

I vote to keep that color for the wheels, flat black and red wheels is a little overdone.. but if you want it then go for it. Its not like it looks bad.

Good start. The motor looks great. That same attention to detail will yield a
    nice car.

Why the new wheels? Are they stock width?

(BTW, I have a '49 four door Fleetline.)

Light aqua paint with black wheels and wide whites would look really good.
    that's my new vote :)

Dark blue with baby blue wheels and wide white walls is my pick. On the side pipe thing I used 3 inch 45 degree mandrels and basically cut the inside off and hammered them flat. It took me about 8 hours minus body filler. Still have to do that. Here's my Wife's car I am rebuilding next!

That last line sure brings back some memories. I bought a 1950 Fleetline when I was 15. I had about a year of playing around and fixing it up before I got my drivers licence, I still remember those days of driving in the driveway or maybe up & down our dead end street and thinking what a big deal that was. It's great to see a young man want an old car. You'll never forget your first car, have fun.
