1949, 1950, 1951 Mercury Pictures

Late to the party as usual,but here are the ones I`ve seen in Sweden.

 

I really like this pink Merc. (I love pink cars). I have always wanted to see it with a Carson top rather than the convertible one. A bit smoother look in my mind.

 

I’m looking into buying a 51 but got a question. I’m going for the look in the picture that I attached. And I found a ‘51 on eBay. But the one on eBay looks shorter than the pic. Is this just some tricky camera angle or are there different trims. I’ll leave the link here.

49-51's Mercs are the same size, although 51's have longer rear 1/4's past the trunk lid. I'm pretty sure the 49-51 Lincolns however had a couple different trim lines that differed in size. One was pretty much the same as the Merc, one was longer.

 

It's not shorter, but the chopped roof changes the proportions, which probably makes the chopped one look longer. Same way with 4 doors, they're the same length as a coupe but the shorter front door and extra thick pillars can make them look bigger/longer.

 

Now this is really something else!
The rear quarters and "Caddy" door dip are brilliant!

This is the car that Custom Rodder did a feature on Bill Hines chopping. It's sectioned as well but can't be much. I could do without the cheesy name on the trunk lid but other than that it's pretty perfect.

Love this Merc! it made my top twenty Mercs of all time list. Yes I'm a Kustom Nerd. I didn't realize this was the same Merc. Thanks for the kustom lesson...

Little Micks Merc from The Asphalt Demons car show here in Australia today.

 

Over the years I've had 3 sitting at or in my home shop, unfortunately none of them were mine.

 

I've always thought that if I ever had a '49-'51 Merc I would install a '50 Buick grille, never seen one on a custom Merc but thought it would really make it look heavy and slammed, but at my age I don't think I'll ever get to do it.

 

"Sleek".

 

Nice and clean from top to bottom front to back, love it ( except for the mirrors) IMO.

 

I thought that was awesome.

 

I'm surprised at how many really nice 4 doors are out there.
