I sold This Car In 2005, And Kicked My Ass For Doing So Because It Was The Best Original Body That I Had Ever Owned. Two Days Ago It Came Back To Me, I Did Not Think About Buying It Back I Just Did It.
Great thread that came back up. I just spent the last hour with a big grin going though 35 pages. This was taken in the early 80's on the street in front of Paul Harper's house the day before the Run to Roslyn. My 51 on the right next to the trailer I towed up there. My 51 with my then 8 year old daughter in 1988 at Puyallup. A few days before I took the kids back to their mom in Texas in the car and Dad and I went on to Bonneville in it. The original back bumper off the car is now on ProStock John's 51. The 51 in the version the gent I sold it to did it up in. Not my style but he paid me a lot of money for the car as it sat and put a ton in it. MS Merc built by Paul Harper Kong heads and 3 carbs on a custom that gets driven.
saw this on a facebook forum the other day. pretty nifty. think its powered by a 337 lincoln flathead...
Great thread, love looking at all the neat ideas that have been used on mercs. What is this side chrome that drops from the door glass into the body swoop and then sweeps through the 1/4 panel?
Hi all, I just found this site yesterday! I guess I should have put my comments before I uploaded this picture. I am an old and I mean "old", hot rodder from back in the day. This a picture I took in 1964 of my 49 Merc. It had a 56 Pontiac engine, reversed spindles and rode real nice.
oh yah.... I've got a pic of that car in Des Moines 1984 running "wire basket" wheels. I'll scan and post the batch of them to the Kustom Blues thread soon.
