Here is my 1948 Superior school bus I saved from the wrecking yard 10 years ago. Had most of the aluminum interior stripped out of it. But it’s pretty solid.

Was able to get what was left of the interior sheet metal, front clip and some of misc parts that was missing on mine off this bus before it was crushed. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Test fitted some of the sheet metal. Wasn’t sure how it would fit. [IMG][IMG]
And how it has been sitting. [IMG][IMG]
It hasn’t been off the ground in 30 plus years.

It's a project but QUITE DOABLE!..will be a COOL ride when done...why does the rear axle look uncentered in the fender openings?

The driver side is missing the drum, so it’s just sitting on the axle.

What a pain in the ass to find. This must be where the step van thread wound up too. Apparently nobody can find it anymore, because it was very active and now I get one or two notices a year that someone has replied.
Anyway, cool bus. It really is a short one. Small as it is, you shouldn't need very heavy springs and axles. I'm on the watch list now, so hopefully I won't lose it.

I had a 1950 Chevy short bus for years took it every where....lots of miles of fun , plus 3 different engines 216 235 even had a 270 Jimmy in for awhile with the low gears and the Jimmy stop light to stop light surprised a few want to be hot rodders..... You had a cool bus! Was it a Superior body?

Got the a few more pieces dug out for it. Was happy I found the fuse cover and the mirror. Got to find the bar for behind the drivers seat. [IMG]
There a junkyard an hour west of me that has a long 46 Chevy Superior bus that I’m hoping I can get the heater and some more of the inner sheet metal out of for the roof. Need to find the lower door hinge for the closer so I can get both doors working.

You know I'm not sure if it was or not I never found a plate on it but it seemed to be like the superior body's exception being the two stainless strips down the side of the body it's the only one that I have seen like that most are like yours with the three bump rails on the side.....you got to stay on that thing your going to have so much fun when it done.... I went everywhere with mine every weekend camping , parting I and a group of friends took it to a Andrew Dice Clay show one night pulled right up front of the big concert hall in line with limo's when we got to the door the valet was afraid to try parking it so I had to park it myself...but he did tell us to see a guy in back when we parked and he would help us out ... He got us in a back door that by passed the crowd ...cool... I've posted a couple of shots of the bus showing what fun you can have...... Found the signal lights for the roof. Might make good extra brake lights. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

If you don't have the headlight buckets let me know; I've got some extras you can have.

And someone who is chopping an F-series truck needs that roof section that's laying there.

Odd you should mention that. When I was getting ready to chop Clarence I seriously considered getting the back half of a pickup cab and making a Ranchero out of the panel truck. This was before Photoshop and I cut-n-pasted several times to see if it would look "right". In the long run I chose not to do it. I think I made the right choice.

Now back to this cool bus...

I do have the head light buckets. I don’t have the headlight rings for it.

Really loving this project! Do you have any history on what school district used it?

I’m not sure. Would have to guess school district 2 in billings. But there are some smaller districts in billings along with an old school on the outskirts of town. The bus was moved from the original wrecking yard from the 60’s.

Got some nos signal stat lenses for the original rear taillights. Found some reflectors and screws so those are in. [IMG]
Got tomorrow off so I’m going to hit the wrecking yard again and see if more of the panels will come out.
