I bought this '48 Coupe a few months ago on an impulse. Thought it would make a nice comfortable "driver" hot rod, and still think that. After lots of deliberation I decided to go with a SBC and leave the rest of the '48 drivetrain intact....like what might have been done in the 60's. All I've done so far is clean out a bit of the worst clutter and dirt and got some "roller" wheels and tires on it. Rust damage that I've assessed so far is the bottoms of both front fenders, the floor forward of the front seat, rocker boxes will need at least partial repair/replacement, and probably one quarter panel down low just behind the passenger door. Repair panels are available from EMS Automotive. The front axle is bowed but another nice axle ('46) will be included. I'm in the process of building a 350 Chevy and have a Wilcap adapter to mate it to the '48 transmission. The engine and adapter would be available too if interested for additional money. The photos of the car on the trailer are from the day I brought it home a few months ago. The rest of the photos are from today in my shop. Please ask question you might have. I would prefer phone calls rather than PM's or texts if you have questions. We can cover questions much easier and faster talking than we can typing. Location is Southeast Missouri, about 1 1/2 Hr. South of St. Louis MO and just off of I-55. Cape Girardeau MO is the nearest town of significant size if you want to map my location and 63783 is my zip code. I have a clean, clear and current Missouri title in hand. Reason for selling - I was working on the car, beginning to pull the front fenders to make pulling and replacing the engine a bit easier as well as going through the front suspension and realized I just wasn't "feeling it" for this car. I already have a T roadster and am also building a Model A coupe which is currently at the body shop. I realized that rather than building this '48 I'd rather build another roadster instead as a future project. I'm glad I realized that before I got farther into it. Thanks for looking. I've been tinkering with this car a bit. Took the seats and floor mats out, removed the front fenders and grill (complete front clip), and pulled the engine and transmission. Spent about 2 1/2 hours pressure washing it inside and outside. I was prepared to build the car and had developed a build plan in my mind but came across another project that better fits my desires. So....the '48 is still for sale. The price has been reduced and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Lynn (573) 788-2574 [email protected]
Bump. My plan for the '48 was to put a 350 Chevy in the car and adapt it to the stock '48 transmission. I would be willing to sell the 350 Chevy that I freshly rebuilt for the car, along with the Wilcap adapter and 11" Chevy flywheel I have, to bolt to the '48 transmission. The 350/adapter combo would be an "add-on" to the price, but it would make a nice package. The front fender clip is back on the car. I'll be moving it from my "working" shop to another garage space to make room for the new-to-me project car. Lots of options. Call if you'd like to discuss..... Lynn (573) 788-2574
Bump...here's your 2019-2020 Fall/Winter/Spring project! The original flathead has been sold. Transmission is still included. Since the scope of this car and the ad has evolved a bit, a phone call would be the easiest way to go over the car's current status. Lynn (573) 788-2574
Time to refresh. Looking back at my posts I didn't see anywhere that I do have a current, clean Missouri title in my name that matches the numbers on the frame. Call with questions. Lynn Winter (573) 788-2574
Why go shopping on Black Friday? Just surprise yourself with a '48 Ford Coupe this Christmas! Lynn (573) 788-2574
I'd like to sell this car before the end of the year, so how about a significant price cut? Let the fighting to get in line to buy this coupe start at $2000.00 I might consider partial trades but really don't have any particular parts in mind, so let me know what you have as trading material. Lynn (573) 788-2574
OK.....I'm going to lower the price until this car sells. When you're getting nervous that the car can't last much longer you'd probably better hook up the trailer. $1900.00 Lynn
Another $100.00 price drop! Now $1700.00 for the '48 Coupe. Getting tempting, isn't it? Time to call! If you're interested, I also have a freshly rebuilt 350 Chevy (initial break-in runs completed) and Wilcap adapter to fit the stock transmission. $3500.00 gets you the whole hot rod "kit". Lynn (573) 788-2574
Time for another price reduction. Disregard price in all previous posts. NEW PRICE $1600.00 Lynn (573) 788-2574
I think this might be getting down into area of "last chance pricing" or someone else will get it before you do. NEW PRICE $1500.00. Clean Clear Missouri Title! Call now.....operators are waiting! Well, OK, that's a lie, but I'd be happy to answer your call. Leave a message and phone number if you get the answering machine. Lynn (573) 788-2574 Home (573) 286-3335 Cell
If you're attending the swap meet at Cape Girardeau, MO this Sunday, February 16, 2020 you'll be really close to this car. I live about 30 minutes North of Cape Girardeau. Good way to make your trip worthwhile. Bring a trailer. Lynn (573) 788-2574
