Ive done alot of progress in the last few weeks. Ive Rebuilt the Brake system (new lines, wheel cylinders, shoes, ect) and works like a charm. Threw a coat of primer on it, and gonna get ready for a topcoat soon. but im now im trying to get the motor running smooth. Put new plugs, wires, and points, cap and rotor, and battery. Its starts up fine idols okay, but as soon you give it some gas its starts to miss bad. So i ran a compression test and 3,5,6 cylinders are 65 to 75 pounds. think if i take the plugs out and soak some Marvel Mystery Oil it may free up maybe a sticky valve?

Pulling the plugs and putting MMO in the cylinders will do nothing for a sticky valves. Put some in both the oil and the fuel and run it. Old Chevy sixs would miss a fair bit at a 1500 -2000 fast idle especialy if the dist. was worn and they did wear. most people never gave the grease cup on the shaft a turn or two every 1000 let alone ever refilling it.

Adjust the valves, then test compression dry. Then test it wet ... if it comes up 40 lbs or more, you're looking at rings (minimum) to restore comp. Chevy 6 valves don't stick - they burn. Your engine may run well enough to drive in this shape if everything fuel & electrical is right, but upon teardown you'll most likely find several cracks in the cylinder head.
