1946 Chevy truck transmission help please

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by brian26, Apr 14, 2013.

  1. I have a 1946 Chevy truck transmission that I need to adapt to a 1962 Chevy 327.

I have a brand new SFI scattershield, for safety, but the centerbore is too big, and the later transmission bolt pattern is not the same.

I will not be running this thing hard, but the issue is to have an enclosed driveshaft , 3 speeds, reverse, clutch, starter etc.

I have looked everywhere for a simple answer, but there doesn't seem to be.

When you say truck transmission, is it a three speed? I had a 50 Chev pu with a 4-speed that bolted right up to the later model V8 bellhousing. You might have to go to a little later transmission (early 50's truck) to bolt up to the V8 bellhousing and still be able to use the enclosed driveshaft.
