    Aaron,

Just finished reading through every post of this thread. You have done some freakin incredible work on this car and I commend you for that. It looks like we have quite a bit in common.. I'm a 19 year old car nut and fellow blues guitarist and delta blues lover. Too bad we live on opposite sides of the country.. I bet we could BS for days.

Anyhow best of continued luck on the '46. She is one badass ride

Sorry for the lack of progress.
Just been trying to tune it in perfectly and fix all the little bugs.
I've put 3000 miles on it in the last 2 months or so.

Heres some artsy fartsy pictures I took while driving along a back road going back to my house. "Country roads take me home"

I actually started some body work a couple days ago. I will be doing more tonight..
I dont imagine anybody wants to see pictures of me spreading bondo and sanding it off. Haha

My goal is to have it in a nice coat of primer to drive it down to Santa Maria...
I'll be driving it either way though.

Might be nice to see a couple, "work in progress". Wish I could make it up to Santa Maria but my daughter is making her confirmation that Friday night and then I am taking her to dinner Sat night but it would have been nice to see your car in person. By the way, I was wondering where you disappeared to.

Thats too bad that you can't make it up. It would be nice to meet you.
I'll take some pictures, I can't stand bodywork... I think it will be a long time until this car is painted, unless I stumble upon a sum of cash and can have it professionally done.
Hopefully I can have some interesting updates soon...

I know what you mean about body work. I am finished with all the hard work on my truck but man all that sanding and dust was a really pain in the behind but the end result will be well worth it.

I just need to bite the bullet and do it.
This car deserves to have a straight body.
Even though it gives me nothing but problems :)

Troubles.....is like scars. Each have a story and are earned. They should be cherished.

That car was a pain in the ass when it was being bad. When it was good, it was very good. I felt the same as you, wishing I had the $$$ to do it like a pro. It was my only car, my only mode of transportation for almost 7 years. I don't regret a minute of building that car.

I sold it to you knowing you would do what I didn't have time for.

    Do it proper.:D

Haha. Like we said before. This car is like a pretty girl, when shes driving you crazy you just gotta take a deep breath and stand back and look at those curves. You'll convince yourself its worth it :)

This car is officially my only mode of transportation now, I sold my back up truck on Monday.
I'm looking for a clean 60s chevy truck with a I6 and a 4 speed to tool around in if the '46 is under the knife. Until then......

And also, I got this '59 Apache as a backup driver/parts hauler.
I will be swapping out the 3 speed for a t-5 and a few other little things.
But I want to leave it the same visually. Just an old truck.

Lookin Good man, lookin good and cool Apach but maybe you could lose those ugly mirrors on the truck and go with factory mirrors. A much nicer look.

The mirrors are pretty obtrusive. They dont work anyways.

I will be removing them (it) tomorrow and replacing it with a small clamp on mirror until I can get some original ones.

The truck has a little 283 that just purrrrrssss.
The only problem is that the 3 speed has trouble going into 1st and reverse. Is it likely a linkage issue? It will go into gear after you fight with the shifter...

I just want a t5 for better highway speeds and whatnot..

    Small updates.

I took off the front sheet metal to clean the frame and gusset the motor mount that kept breaking.

    Degreased the frame etc...

I was going to change the cam to a smoother one, since I kind of get sick of the "potato potato potato" idle that this one has.. but I chickened out and put it off for later. I had to drive the car to SF in a few days and didn't want anything to go wrong. Maybe I will do it in a little while.

Metal back on, had to run to Summit Racing without the hood, I felt like a dork.

I put the '49 Chevy License plate guard on.

Random picture of how it looks right now...

And I also modified the steering wheel to make it look more like a 40s banjo wheel..

    Heres the before,

The horn ring covered up the 'spokes' so I removed it and then cut down the 'hub' so it gave it more of a deluxe sporty look. I like more simple, basic designs.

    That's where I'm at now. :)

  22. this car makes me want a 40s chev coupe so bad! im hooked!

i dont know about the wheel though, looks like a 60s camaro unit now!

To be honest, I didn't even know what a Camaro wheel looked like until it was brought to my attention.

That's alright though, I've been planning on changing wheels anyways, to an ivory 40s unit when I can find one at an affordable price... anybody have one for sale???

I was going for the deluxe banjo look, but now I'm stuck with a Muscle car wheel...

Who knew a '52 Buick wheel resembled a Camaro? haha...

    You guys suck :)

I've also been thinking that a 46-48 Olds complete dash would be cool instead of the stock one... don't they bolt in??

    Or maybe Pontiac??
