They are wrapped to keep the lube in and dirt out. Nice old Ford, thanks for all the pics.
Cool car Larry! Great to see more 41 Fords popping up here, and you are in CA.
thanks for the tip I thought it was for noise ,had no clue .
thanks , I like the wide body stance and narrow front . I think 41's are not recognized as much as 40's and 46's
Check out this 4 door 41 Mercury...
Same body and rear fenders....great family cruisers

That is cool , I don't know why 4 doors aren't more popular I don't like to get out of the car to let others in .
thank you . my fingers are crossed
I hope you're going to put those Evans heads back on.
Here's your chrome dash. i just posted this pic in Hombre's Ruin's thread. It's from Custom Car Chronicle, 1951 Eastern Auto catalog...
yeah those look like the panels but did anyone offer the dash and steering column in chrome also wondow surrounds ? I plan on having the evans heads and offenhauser 4 barrel intake back on after having them checked out .
more to share on the 41 here are some pics and I learned a lot soo far converted Lincoln v-12 distributor .125 pistons . going to a tear down on the engine and do it right if it is still useable.
Standard Automotive Products, the parent company of Fenton, made most of the Ford & Merc metal dress-up & replacements for plastic dash parts.
How amazing is that?
It seems you have a real period treasure. Please keep us posted on your progress.
Will do I have been taking it slow found out the crank Marked 1CM is a mercury 4" stroke going to start pulling pistons tomorrow.
Having a hard time finding pictures of wrapped springs anyone have one to share ?
No pics as ay are gone now that Photobucket is charging to host but here is a link from the Ford barn site.
Have one of those wrapped springs out in the barn- came off my '46- try to remember to take a picture-
wrapped spring- notice grease fittings-
Nice pic is a little dark but the snow makes good contrast . where are you located .
update I tried CLR in # 1 cylinder it appeared as rust but when I went to scrub it it was almost plastic like substance the CLR and a plastic tuffie scrub pad got it loose and it looks like after soaking for an overnite i may actually get # 1 to move more than a little . will keep you posted .
Pistons stuck? Try Marvel Mystery Oil. Miracle stuff!
(Automatic transmission fluid can also be added.)
only one stuck #1 and tried marvel a few times on it not giving much also tried transmission fluid pb blaster wd 40 gel hot water, coke kinda helped this almost looks like plastic more than rust got almost all of it above piston now am soaking it again will try to move it again from the bottom thanks for the suggestion.
ATF and Acetone is great for stuck carbs. You might give that a try.
