If you pull up the LMC truck catalog online and those model trucks...they give breakdowns of what the VIN# means in the first few pages if that helps you out at all. They give the year, plant, month and number of production.

LT, that is one of the nicest looking 6's I have ever seen......CLEAN, and I like the Harley horn. I thought I was the only one who uses motorcycle parts on his cars and trucks.

Nice truck,, most of the 40 design is shared by the 41-46..
I think the only differences are in the front grill
You could start your own thread too,
maybe see how many other 40's are out there,
    you might be surprised

Yes this '46 was pure fun to drive, twice to Tulsa, once to Memphis and all over Indiana!

Has anyone put a big block in a 41-46... with its fenders?

'39-'40 cabs have almost 2" less space at the firewall than '41-46... if you eyeball the cabs they look identical. I tried to put a '40 front end on my '46 and it came up short. :)

  11. Drove the 41 Crusty Cruiser #2 into Seattle Saturday for a movie Premier. They had some pinup gals hanging out, literally, get a load of these.

Not sure how active this thread still is but here's my contribution. '41 3/4 ton. Short version is a friend found this for me about hour and 1/2 from my place, sitting out by the road in rural MD. $9000 on the for sale sign and I had no idea if it was a good or bad price, but when I looked at it before even knowing any specifics on these years, it was amazingly solid. And save for the rear (67 Chevy 3.73 12bolt 6 lug) and the rims/tire, it's stock. 6volt, 231 inline , 4 speed on the floor and it runs so smooth. I've done some minor mechanical work, rebuilding the rear brake and seals, new clutch, rebuilt the generator. Have located some 17" 30's artilleries for it and working on purchasing them.

Was one of my favorite deals, real nice guy who owned it, sod farmer who invented those green tree watering bags you see around newly planted trees everywhere, Tree Gators. I asked him about the price, he said "what about it?" When I asked if it was just a starting point he said "sure, we can go higher if you want". Best $9000 I've spent.

    Hopefully the pics post correctly...

Hey there Jerryinok, welcome, and dont worry about the fng designation,
you can pay 50$ and become an 'Alliance Member',,
1st thing that catches my eye is that while the roof is chopped,
you have a one piece windshield, So I am wondering,,
were you able to buy it like that off the shelf or did you need to get
    the windshield made special?
What engine is in it? What frame? tell us all about it...
    Nice,, I'd drive it

So the glass is off the shelf cut to size? cool,,
what molding? I planned on using stock molding since mine is all stock,
someday i might get around to chopping it, but not anytime soon
I dont see any problem posting your build pics,, great learning opportunity for some folks.

Hey, if anyone is swapping out their 1/2 - 3/4 ton steering box I could use your steering box mount (its a riveted and bolted mount that clamps onto the box). Drop me a pm and we can talk business!

The windshield is laminated safety glass like whats in a store front window. We have a glass guy here that does this and will do diesels and school buses so I got him to cut the glass to fit and we urathaned it in on the outer stair step of the cab and used a universal molding that looked like from the edge an umbrella with a two legged J. On the back he used tinted glass and a stock type rubber.

  23. Okay guys, spring has finally sprung here in the Pacific Northwest, and it's time to crank up this 41-46 Chevy thread.
I've been taking care of welding in the seat mounts, added a nice pair of Honda bucket seats and seat belts. Found some old style door signs. Also added side boards. Here's the latest pictures from Crusty Cruiser #2.
Work is slow on Crusty Cruiser #3, I've modified the core support a couple of time to get it "just right" . Met a guy at the truck show the other day and I have bartered with him for some original grille parts. He's building a rare 42 flatbed.

Hello, I'm John from Sacramento, CA. I'm sorry to say that I sold this truck about 2 months ago. But hey, I'm building another. Going a different direction though. Building a hot roddish version.

I am planning a T-5 conversion in my wifes '46. In the process, I want to get rid of the closed drive rear. By chance, does anyone know what model of rear end I can use that will have the same width, and still have the Chevy 6-lug pattern?

I'm think that most chevy truck axles will suit right up to mid 70s s10, please correct me if I'm wrong. I did the conversion on my 41 and used a GM 12 bolt truck axle but not exactly sure what year. It has a 3.73 ratio but I would advise a 4.11 if you are going to a T5. Top is a long stretch for my 235 unless on dead flat or down hill. You can see some of what I did in my build thread.
    LT.
