Can anybody recommend a diff width for a 40 willys pickup? I want to keep them in the fenders and not have to tub the box. I'm looking at 225/75r15 rear rubber on steelies.
The factory diff I think is 58.5" and I can get a 64 ford pickup 9" which is 61.25 I think.

I think the early bronco's are narrower also the pick up rear has a 5-1/2" BC the original Willys is 4-1/2". A mustang 8" might fit your needs quite well and has a 4-1/2" BC.

Mid nineties ford ranger 8.8 is a good choice.

Id like to stay with a 9” , i have a traction loc 2.75 center section and a possible saginaw 3.50 first gear 4 speed for rowing. I think that would be a good combo.
I need to get to measuring i guess.

I think that a 57-58 Ford car rear end is 57.5 wide and if you can find one out of a station wagon or ranchero it will have the big bearings
