I know the glove box is on the RH side, but what is the LH side for? I am missing the panel or door that covers the hole....

I'm not sure what they originally used it for but they had glove box doors on both sides

Many cars were designed so the steering column could be moved to the right side for the Australian and UK market. I know that Henry Ford was against a "special" for the Aussies. That is why Mopar outsold Ford in the early days there.
