    Does anyone have one of these the can measure for me? I'd like to know the inside diameter of the rim.

  2. Jimmy, I don't have one but I believe they are the same as standard 40 rims on the inside diameter. You should pm me as I would like to talk to you about an idea that you might be interested in for a new product as I know your always looking to develop. Dale

    I have a 16in that is 3.5in wide. Heard that it was an early 40. One only, would love to find a mate to it! Seems rare.

    Yes, only '40 V-8 60 cars got these. Ford was trying to save as much weight as possible and did so where ever they could.

    The 40 with the V8 60 had a 3.5" wheel... Very rare and desirable by guys wanting a period correct hot rod.

    So whats the ID on it? I don't think its the same as a normal wheel. I think it may be the same as a wide five wheel

    I have 2 1939 V8-60 wheels going on my Coupe. Not the same thing but I thought I would add that they are in fact 3.5" wide.

    The rim that I have is 5 on 5.5 Ford. It's just like the other steel rims, but it's 3.5 inside. Will send pics and check it for numbers, etc.

    Mike Bishop talks about this rim in the first printing of his book on building an A-V8. It's not in the second or newer printing.

  11. '40 V8 60 rims are a one year only item and very rare because the 60 was discontinued before the end of the '40 model run. They are 3.5" width instead of the normal 4". '37-'39 cars with the HP engine had wide five wheels that were 3.5", all other wide fives were 4" width. Wheel rim width is measured as inside width between the flanges the tire seals against.

    Yeah, catalog from 1940 says 3.5. 1940 was basically just a use-up-the-leftovers year for the 60. No one wanted them any more, until gas rationing time in WWII...
    Also, body offerings were greatly reduced for 1940 60's, and all got the 3.5 wheel. In some earlier years, heavy bodies like station wagon and delivery got the bigger wheel with the 60.

    Ok well does anybody want to give me the inside diameter of the rim? Not how wide it is. The size of the hole where the center is riveted to on the rim.

    That size is no different than any other Ford 16" KH steel rim regardless of the width. The centers on the stamped KH are the same for the 5 X 5.5 bolt pattern.

    This may of no help for I don't have that measurement.

    I measure with a tape so its not 100% exact but from the center insert flange lip to flange lip on diagonal is 13 5/8"+-. Taken from my stocker 40 60hp.

    Centers are the same.
    As per chart at rallyamerica
    W= 3 1/2 in
    F= 1 1/2 in
    D= 16 in
    B= 3 in
    On the outside face by holes under cap is stamped Ford KH and G
    On inside of rim is 16 X 3.50 40 and a 3 (March 1940)
    This is what my rim has on it.

    I have located some old 16x3.5" rims off of another car that I can put some original ford centers into and make exact clones of these wheels. The only difference being that they will be welded instead of riveted. Would anyone want these?

    I tried to PM Wheel Kid-PM box was full.

    I would absolutely be interested in a 3.5 X 16" Ford wheel. I would be able to provide centers for a set as well.

    Let me know.
