I picked up a '39 standard radiator, it's smaller than my '40 standard, but it's like brand new, while my '40 standard radiator will need to be re-cored. Will the '39 #1 do the job? and #2 will it look goofey behind the '40 standard grill?

You really can't see the radiator behind the 40 Std./Pickup grille if everything back there is painted black like it is supposed to be.
If that radiator is substantially smaller than the 40 one you have it may be a V8-60 radiator, then no.

The O1T, 40-41 1-ton radiator is a nice big replacement for the 40 radiator and has a pressure cap.

I was told the car the radiator came out of had an 85 horse flathead. It is considerably smaller, though, so I'm leaning towards V8-60. I guess I should have asked if the car had over-heating problems!

Is it narrower and stands taller? I'd think it would hamper working under the hood. But, new radiators are costly........

It's the same height, but I'm planning on going hoodless anyways. The good radiator will probably be in the classifieds tonight!

39 Standard and 40 Standard are totally different radiators. Mounting is different.
