Technical 1940 Ford Pedal...No Doubt a Simple Question for the Well Informed

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by anothercarguy, Apr 15, 2019.

  1. What are you guys using for the clips that sit in the grooves of the shaft to hold 1940 Ford clutch and brake pedals in place? I bought a rebuild bushing and shaft kit for my pedals and there were no clips included. I looked at my collection of circlips, and nothing seems quite right. The pedal set that I bought didn't have any clips on it when purchased.

  2. Try McMaster Carr.

Buy a box of external circlips off the rack at the auto parts or hard ware store.
Been working for me a long time.

I have the same issue, 40 pedal circlips are pretty wide compared to the ones made today, so do you 'double-up' on the clips or use another washer/spacer?

I just used the existing washer & a single circlip.
If it makes you more comfortable, double the washer or circlip
