This Ford is going to be auctioned off in a couple weeks in my area. Is there any way to tell if it's a coupe or not just by the 1 picture the auction house has supplied ? That window garnish lying on the hood might be a clue, if it even goes to this car. In another picture I noticed a box labeled 40 Opera seat parts.
The only indication that it MIGHT be a coupe is whatever that is laying on the roof seems to slope downward fairly soon after the windshield, indicating it’s following the flow of the short roof of a coupe. If it was a sedan I’d think that you wouldn’t see that curving downward, as the sedan roof is flat all the way back. Just a theory at best.
I will be able to inspect the car in person in 2 weeks. If I knew for sure that it was a sedan I wouldn't make the trip down to see it, but if there's a chance that it's a coupe then I will be there.
I did send the auctioneer an email but haven't heard back yet. The owner has passed away and it's at an estate auction, he sure had bought alot of Bob Drake parts for it.
Post this over at the fordbarn. Mike Kubarth (Kube) literally wrote the book for 40 fords. He may see some detail the rest of us would miss
It appears that the rear fender on the pass. side has been removed. I think you can see the top of the rear tire.
I had been planning on being there for the past 2 weeks but due to unseen circumstances I wasn't able to attend.
