I just recently acquired a 29 Model A Roadster with a hopped up banger. I took it out for it's first long run and parked it This morning I went out to moved it and there was this big puddle of oil at the rear of the trans. Instead of fixing it I was thinking about changing the trans. I already have a 39 Trans and a 1932 Model B Trans. The 39 has the 78 case with 81-A double detent shift tower with the 91A shifter fork with about 3000 miles and the 1932 is rebuilt with 1940 gears in it. Which would be the least trouble to change out and who sells the best adaptors. Thank you in advance.

If the car is raked at all, it might be rear axle lube and not trans. I have this problem with mine. Sometimes I try to park with the front higher so the rear lube will run back to the axle.........

Good thought! It is raked! I didn't even think about that!

By "hopped up banger", do you mean a Model B or A? It makes a difference in the trans choice. About the leak, that's something else. Should be easy to tell the difference between motor oil and... After a run, Bangers are notorious for leaking from the rear main. Interogative: Fred A

Motor is a Model A. It's been rebuilt and has a modern rear main seal. It is gear oil. Thank you.

Vern Tardel makes a torque tube baffle to prevent that, not totally sure if he still sells it...

Bruce's Rod Shop in Spring Texas makes one

  12. I bought the kit from him. Works good. Been on the road for a few years with it. Easy to install. I was worried because it has a flange that adds thickness between torque tube and banjo. Turns out it really doesn't make a difference. It's nice that there's no machining involved.
