A fellow named Claude Hardin, in the little town where I finished high school had a collection of cars and one was a nicely preserved Zephyr. He let me use his garage space to tinker on a '40 Ford Coupe I owned at the time. I always kidded him about taking the trans out of his Zephyr and putting in my Coupe. I would've kept the shifter just to wow the girls. In retrospect, being a young Hooligan I should have been thinking of how to get my greasy fingers on the Zephyr instead. Later in life I worked on a couple of older Lincolns and have always been amazed how much thought and design they have in them. And, even if a V12, I don't know if that's your engine or not, is not powerful enough 'to pull a sick whore off a pisspot' to quote an old time wrench turner, I always came away thinking they were more like watches in how smooth they ran and were quiet enough not to wake Granny's parakeet on a long trip. You don't need much to have a nice car, and to build a custom you need to meditate long and hard about why it looks so good before trying to outpace the racehorse minds Edsel Ford and Henry harnessed to the drawing boards to pull that beautiful rabbit out of the hat; because, no doubt about it, the lines are outstanding, and all the little touches are there for a reason. I hate green, though and that particular green is really offensive. Green is considered bad luck by all the old racers I ever knew. Only money should be green. I hope I haven't offended your sensibilities in my appreciation because you did good and have a mighty fine car. I hope you make something out of it. As I'm sure others do as well. You do have to know that we're all pretty damn jealous, though. Carl

They told me the motor was frozen , I slightly turn fan and motor budged. Soaked mystery oil down the cylinders all day, now was able to turn over with starter. Someone in 1978 put an inline 6v fuel pump. Need to empty tank, new coil pack .... Just maybe she'll fire tomorrow. Found the ash try knob in glove box.(thank god) ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1405151096.425707.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1405151127.426426.jpg

I threw a battery in her and she came alive. Also found hidden parts in the rear floor storage. The auctioneers didn't check it. Found nos fuel pump, headlight lens, stock jack kit, also a make shift remote dual coil adapter. Never seen one before. Pulled the dissy off the zephyr today. Found why the car was parked 40 yrs ago. The points band snapped so the points stayed opened, and was band was grounding out. She will fire soon I'm determined. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1405488529.476511.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1405488539.792387.jpg

Went to dons today for points and came back with full rebuilt dissy and tons of zephyr parts. Also to find out he was the one whom sold Dutch the zephyr in 1971 for $200. Don was known as the zephyr king. Was there 4 hrs today and going back tomorrow. Glad to see you got the V12 running. So many fools would take it straight out to put a 350/350 combo in it. All his needs is lowered and a couple of extra carbs and it would be perfect. Good score.
