There are 3 different radiators that will fit '38-'39 pickup. One is for the 60 HP engine and is marked 82C on the top tank. The most common one is marked 81C and is for the 85 HP engine. The one with the extra thick core marked 81T on the top tank is for a big truck but it will fit a pickup, and that's what I have on my truck. All have the bracket that the radiator support rods attach to. These rods are of critical importance. You will never get your hood to fit and latch right until these rods are correctly adjusted.
I am never going to find a stocker. what OI think I was asking is, the 200 dollar aluminium radiators on ebay, will any of them work? is a 38 radiator a one year only thing?? finally have my spindles in and rotors and wheel!! so cal gt2 steering arms -bolt through variety, need a little tickle to clear a stock 37 axle, you need to tickle both the axle and arms IS there a difference in 1 1.5 tonne front inner fenders my bolt holes don't line up also my running boards, as they the same all years from 35-40 I have a big truck cab as have the hole for the underseat tank, I am worried I have big truck front fenders and inner fenders also is an 8ba oil pan going to clear the drag links?
The big truck front fenders are huge and do not work for 1/2 ton. I think the running boards are 38/9 only
If you’re cheap and desperate enough - you can do like I did. Rework the big truck fenders.. But, if you have the funds you’re way better off to find fenders for a proper 1/2 ton pickup.
Here’s a shot mid surgery and a far away, extra blurry pic of it “finished”. Looked best from 50 yards or above 60 mph but I didn’t have luck finding fenders I felt like buying
Basically a section job. The bottom with the running board mating surface was brought up a bit. 4 or 5 inches was removed in between.
i saw a builder some where cut a nissan back half off before the kick up and put it together .sort of like a pro street set up but looked good.so you might like to look for a frame kick up close to what you need rather than trying to locate another unobtainable solid original frame. look it over. yes the 35 and 36 are narrower at the perch. i built one of these when i was 18 and the memories are flowing.
As my suggestions? The frame had had its rivets removed. Bolt the outer rails together faces together????
