I've got a 1938 Ford Deluxe front clip I plan to use some day, but only have the hood handle. What do the under hood parts look like? Are Standard and Deluxe the same or different? How many years used the same parts? Tough to look for parts if you don't know what they look like. Thanks! Bob

There’s one on EBay that’s modified but may offer original photos if you contact the guy. I would a Google search “for sale” cars and contact owners for a picture. You never know.
    Good luck.

Maybe you can figure out what it looks like from this exploded view.

I found these illustrations by simply typing in 1938 Ford hood latch in a google search. I worked on a 38 Deluxe for a buddy a few years ago. We converted the latch over to volkswagon type latch system with a pull cable with the handle located under the dash. The system was very difficult to install but looked nice when finished. If you are interested I think I have some good pictures of that install procedure.

Just went thru this on a 37 woody. Had the handle and the base but nothing else. Wife found a crusty one on ebay with all the parts. Looks the same as the diagram posted. Installed it and it worked great. She also found the hood support which is in the diagram. There is a little spring on the hood cross brace too held on with two screws. They are all in that diagram.
81a16628 is the excentric locking piece. 81a16635 is the spring. There is a special nut on the shaft at the bottom with a shoulder on it as well. There is one on ebay right now with the locking washer and the nut. Your hood probably still has the spring attached to the backside of the support.

38 DLX latches to the round bar that pokes up behind the grille in front of the radiator. 37/38 standard are different. I'm scouring the earth for one myself.

I had a latch & center tin divider offered to me by a HAMB member, they should be here this week. I'm sure Hershey will be flooded with them after my two year search.o_O Bob

I doubt that any exist….. I would be very happy for you if someone could come up with them. Best bet would be to ask on the Ford Barn site.
