This is the beginning photos of my 38 chevy coupe gasser build, have had this car many years in storage. This build will not be a street car, this will be for race only. 305CE9A5-930F-4FE5-9716-24A8C828B592.jpeg

The first 38 Chevy I saw in person was at Islip speedway in 1964. It was running in a gas class and had an injected small block Chevy in it. It should be cool when you're done.

Drop axle and blocks? Any plans to go straight axle instead? FD2F38D9-F976-4902-953F-97F7B507D906.png

Used a mock-up engine and a speedway front engine mount B9988F20-8EFB-45BF-95A6-7696867F42AB.png to locate the mounting points on the frame

Those were from the original car, will be going with a straight thick .375 axle

  7. I have a buddy with a 42 Chevy gasser and Sid Drapal “un-dropped” an axle like that for it. It worked out well.

Looks like a cool project! I love 37 and 38 Chevy coupes as gassers.

Going with a 9 inch rear, old style tube brace, 35 spline strange axles and center section. Built the housing from a old Edsel rear center and some new 3 inch axle tubing. 8EE87F06-F5AB-4B84-8484-C567A9798C81.png 535FCF4F-BE87-420B-9373-F34997E3492F.png 49AAAEE6-72DD-4823-A86B-E5E163146D21.png

not equal to any of the race gassers but, in High School days there was a wicked 38 coupe that cruised the main weekend cruise nite. Jacked to the sky, headers, etc. had a big closed end round rear bumper. easily pulled the front wheels off the pavement. really " Bitchin' "
