Joey check out northern classic for wood pieces and truck bed parts. Very well made parts that fit. The link is for 40-41 cab/frame wood. The 38 is a little different and not sure if they carry them, might want to call them.

Found mine on ebay. Only pictures I took of it, sorry no pattern.

As 38fordpickup said there are two different hood hinges. One uses a bent clip to attach the hood side to the bracket. The other hinge has a 90* tab that a straight bar attaches to the hinge and the hood side. So does any of that make sense?

Maybe some picts to help. Not sure which is which yr, but I believe the one with the 90* tab on the bracket is correct for 38. The red ox brackets in the picture would take a "L" bracket to attach the hood side.

Kirby, also a pict of the front rad support.

I see them on e-bay all the time and most parts catalogs offer them too. The ones without the 90*, only seen a handful of the ones with the 90*

Thanks (I thought they might be available new, but I have not seen them)
I have not seen them in Aust. on ebay (I might have to try else where then)
I do not have any hinges at all.

Thanks for the reply. I did find a set of hinges on E-bay finally. I will have to make a set of rods. The P.O. kept the radiator. I just got the body and a partial frame. Would you be able to get a measurement for me from the point that overhangs the firewall to the center of the hood latch hole? Thanks,
    Jason

The ones that you see on ebay and in catalogs are generally listed for a car only. The truck ones are different, but I do not know how. It took me a while to find a set for a truck. I don't think they make the truck set new. One of these other guys can probably provide better info on these as I am fairly new to the early Fords.

    Bugger (I wish!!:()

Having that tab for the hood sides would be good.

The car ones look close (I know they are avaiable new)
Has anyone tried to fit these or know if they do fit??

From the overhang (cowl) to center latch pin. 37.25". (Did not measure off the firewall) but guessing from your avitor you have a frontend complete...

So the truck ones must be the ones with the tab. Been a while since I have thought about those hinges. If I remember right I looked for a while before one came up somewhere. They are out there.

You can use a an L bracket off the car bracket and it will work just fine.

    CHEERS,

  16. I bought the wood sills under the cab from Bob Drake years ago. You are going to have to find a '38-'39 radiator to get front sheet metal lined up right. The radiator is mounted first. Then the grille assembly mounts to the radiator. Then the fenders mount. Then the side panels. You have to fiddle with adjustment on the radiator support rods to get the hood to close and latch correctly.

  17. sure hate that about my 38 that you need the stock radiator to assemble the front sheetmetal but i'm lucky to have mine. gonna try and build a jig that has all the mounting points of the stock radiator to hang my tin on since my front suspension has been changed to 1950 ford car stuff.

    Hello 39ers.
If you have been collecting parts for 20 some years, please help me out.
I need to find a cowl vent mechanism COMPLETE with the bracket that screws to the fire wall inside the cab.
I have seen cowl vents for sale on e-bay and they are never complete. I have the vent and screen but I need the handle, levers and bracket that attaches to the firewall and to the mechanism to open and close the vent.

I'm happy to pay you a fair price and mailing charges.
    Thanks so much,
    Dave 714-904-5944

Finally decided to jump on board. Not a car guy, but have taken a lot of other things apart and sometimes successfully put them back together again. Have always wanted to give something like this a try, but never found/created the opportunity. Picked up a 39 one ton from a family friend that parked it about 7 years ago (was running well at that time). Pulled it out of its resting place with the help of my 13-year-old daughter this weekend - she seemed more excited than me!

Will definitely be posting more as we start getting our hands dirty.
