Looks awesome. My brother George would be proud. You're a man who doesn't mess around. :)

So uncommon I had to remind my father who is very with it, who was a teenage hotrodder at the time what the heck it was.

    I was flabbergasted.

Anyone remember the Smith Bros.( Jay and Nelson) Willys out of Inglewood, Ca. back in the 60's? Car ran a 409 Chevy with dual quads. It was featured in Car Craft July 1964 titled," Clean and Quick" but the photo was in black & white. I'm trying to find out what color the car was. Thanks for any help.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE 37,S WERE A LITTLE LIGHTER DO TO THE STYLE OF THE FRONT CAP AND LIL CUT OUT OF THE REAR FENDERS? JUST CURIOUS THE CURB WEIGHTS ON THE YEARS

  4. Rocky,
If there was a weight difference it was very small. 37's had 2 hood hinges the rest had the one piano style...maybe a couple of pounds more in brackets. There was a bit more glitter on the 40-42 models, a bigger frame in 41, along with bigger rear doors, and a few other pieces, such as a couple more gallon tank. My '41 pickup weighted 2800 pound with me in it (150#) at the '94 Gasser Gathering in Denver. There is a curb weight listing out there...someone will post it!

The paint job on this Willys p/u is so reminiscent of early 70's paint jobs. So were the addition of lace & cob webbing (my favorite).

On my '67 Camaro (mojave gold) instead of painting the panels contrasting colors all I did was to outline each body panel with a brighter gold pinstripe.

Was a quick fix for both a "new look" for the Camaro (owned it and drove it everyday for over 9 years) and to help hide a slight mis-match of paint shades between panels that had to be repaired & re-painted(PA rust).

My good friend Wayne (39 Willz) sent me these photos of his new/old toys on there way to England and asked me to post them for him,
I am sure he will be along to answer any questions.

Bernie still taunting Willys guys with that old thing? That my friends is real patina. Bernie is a gardener in Bakersfield and was given the car by the widow of the guy who owned it as a reward for his work and help. Note, it has an extremely rare Burns 2-1 Willys intake and 2-1's. For years I used to tease Bernie about pulling a wrench out of my pocket to remove the intake if he left the hood open....;)
