    From an earlier post your latest photo's (#3295 &#3304 )show the split base 37-38 hood ornament. What do you know about their existence versus the tear drop shaped base on those hood ornaments? I have both bases, but only complete ones with the tear drop base that covers the whole hood center trim.

    Weasel, I have GAS and can't stop the gearheaded mental sickness disease I have. LOL!!! Only cure to it is to hold that pedal to the floor and let the stress fly!!!

    Hi mwarlord I can tell you all about the first Sour Grapes Willys built in 1964 by my dad. 33HEMI posted 2 videos the first being the Sour Grapes willys that was not owned or built by or had anything to do with my dads version. His 2nd video was the video I made and posted pictures of. My dads I have spoke with the gentleman owning the other version on the phone about buying it and he is a super guy, but after a long conversation it was fact they were 2 different cars, wishful thinking but I would have sold my soul for the original.

    My dads was built by a band of hooligan gear heads in Lafayette Indiana at Leemans machine shop. One of the hooligan gear heads dads owned the shop ,AKA Joe Leeman. They were told they could have run of the shop after hours as long as everything was back in order by opening time. So it was out with the day crew and in with the play crew. For its time the car had a few new tricks that nobody else was using and it worked well. The car was track points champion at Bunker hill a couple years, it ran in a couple classes depending on fuel, tire, motor set up choices. A lot of racers would wait in line at the sign in booth for the Sour Grapes to register his class. After he signed in they would enter an opposite class so they could have a better chance of winning. The car was also a 1st runner up at I think the 1967 U.S. Nationals. The car started with a 327 hilborn then went to a 392 Hemi hilborn set up. Both using a clutchflite tranny.

    Then my dad wanted to go funny car racing and purchased the 68/69 Flying Dutchman charger from Al Vanderwoude and that spawned a whole new chapter in his career. The car was then sold to Dave Anderson, a family friend, who moved it to Kansas City MO. And he ran it named Sour Grapes with different lettering font, and then sold it in probably 1978 and its been lost ever since.

    Does anyone have any info on this car? Its currently here in Oahu and now belongs to a friend of mine. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Bob Silva used to own the sedan, I met him in California in the late 90's when I had my Austin as he has/had one also. Get ahold of Rob Stuart with Austin Works and he can put you in touch with him. He knew the history on the Willys and told me about it but I cant remember. Tell him Dave McCauley sent you, good luck!
