I am repairing a 1937 Ford truck cab and would like to remove the inner headliner piece above the windshield. I cant tell if it is spot welded in place or just welded together? I know the pillar seam at the upper windshield/roof is leaded, but unsure what else would be in this area. There is not much left in the middle, but it appears to be spot welded. I drilled what i thought was a spot weld and just made a hole. Id rather not destroy it getting it apart. Thanks in advance for any help.
Holy tetanus shot Batman! Can't you find a better cab or roof? That one looks like it sat on its firewall for a time and the top filled with debris behind that panel. I would cut it out with the plasma cutter if I had it. I credit you for trying to drill out he spots and save it.
cut out the rot, fabricate new panels, WELD in. I have my grandfathers 37 Ford truck and leaded places are the first place the paint fell off. The paint has disappeared over lead on many ol cars I have
Thanks for all the replies! Update, So the inner piece is welded to the roof panel with spot welds along the front lip. The sides are welded to the door frame. I had to drill the spots and cut the sides to remove the inner head liner piece. But now i can access the interior to assess. I plan to make new pieces for the rotted areas and weld in. The mice must have loved this spot
