Looks like good fun, and a great choice of parts...
    I don't wanna be a downer but...
IMO ... if you are NOT building a rat, and are going to keep that body and bed rake you will need to chop the '34 grill about 6"... the beltline runs straight along the bed and body, if you continue that line to the grill you will see the grill looks to be sitting way too high... and as for rake, if you have to dip your head to see 10 car lengths ahead of you your neck will not like it...
Set the body and bed "level" with the frame, please don't let... "most radical rake" and "deepest into the weeds" design your rod... your gonna be driving it not just sitting in a lawnchair looking at it...

  21. Great start to what looks like a cool project.

Sloppy jalopy is right about the top of the grille shell. Esthetically, it should line up somewhere around just below the cowl (like in the black line in the picture) or possibly even lower (like the blue line).

The best thing to do is roll the project outside so you can step back and look at it critically.

    ditto J G,
the black line should angle down slightly towards the blue line as it approaches the grill... check a stocker, measure vertically from the hood side's top edge up to the hood's hinge area [top]... do the same at the grill... guessing it is about a 4* rake ...

o_O The top of the grille at the blue line ?? That would look like crap, the grill wouldn't be any higher than the front tire
And the Black line is also in the wrong spot. This would be better and give a better idea on how high the grille should be.

yup, black line it is ! ...
But the black line seems to be at the center of the cowl, but runs out to the grill's right side.... making the two look closer to the same angle...
Set the black line at the back of the hoodsides top edge, and set it at the front of the hoodside's top edge ...
Also, you may want the broken frame look, if so, sorry to trying to correct it...
    ... rock on !

I like this project! Stance and proportions look pretty good from here.
Looks like Rudy's truck had a bit more rake to the grille, which brings the top down closer to the height of the cowl, and allows the axle to bump forward a tad if required.
As seen in the side view posted by the-rodster, the radiator support rods, intake/heads, frame, and hairpins are all very close to parallel with each other, though NOT with the beltline of the cab and bed...so while the truck may look a little "smashed" in side view, from the front and rear 3/4 view it just looks mean and aggressively raked. I think this "break" at the cowl is a big part of what makes the car.
