What plans do have for it? They can be a ton of fun.

  4. I've always like the '37 Flatbacks when lowered,I remember a time back in the early days they were considered a ugly duckling among the fat fendered crowd.

    Congratulations. HRP

I may go with chrome rims and wide whites big and littles..or I may just leave the steelies alone ...not sure about the flames, maybe bumbers...the inside will get the most of my attention, its kinda fugly, so I will spend my efforts there..

Danny..do you know why Ford put this model out when they had the more traditional coupe and sedan?...Like I said, I've never really noticed them before, but this one caught my eye for sure...they remind me of a 40 ford...cant wait to have some fun with it...hopefully I can find bumpers if I so desire to run them

I'd drive it the way it looks for sure!

You can hide those bolt on throttle bodies pretty easy if you want a daily driver, but them ain't cheap. It's a full hood car so as long as you don't billet everything out or start pouring modern race car parts into it, you should be able to maintain at least a traditional appearance.

I'd drive it around as is for a while and feel it out. It sounds like it's already a good car to me.

A few things that I will address immediately 7c77a37ec8902a020553cc8f8a8845441ab974cf.jpg I will rework the dash and paint it in patina black lacquer..I also wanna lose that steering wheel...can I adapt an older ford wheel to that column? 8ce02fcaa2c79cd4c2f0998eeae67181628d019a.jpg I also MUST lose these seats!!...I'll find some lower backed buckets or a bench that fits...there is no rear seat :( fd67b77f3c70942eea9b89b7f3213ffd08bc7441.jpg I will also paint all the window trim in patina black lacquer and lose the peach color on those panels ca999ca32ef24c0fc242e6b8adc7f975d027449b.jpg Also I'm not crazy about the fuel tank setup..gotta clean that up somehow ..

I'd check out that shinny steering column, make sure it's not the off shore unit that falls apart while driving
    Have fun with it.

Search the HAMB for info on these, if I remember right some of these have been outlawed in NZ and Australia, where they actually inspect builds.

Great car. I like your ideas with the interior. But consider a semi gloss black instead. Flat doesn't get it inside. You can install an aftermarket banjo wheel on that column otherwise you have to change out the column to get an old ford banjo on there. That cars sets perfectly. Hope you stay Hotrod themed and don't give in to a custom. Really nice car.

yes..I had planned on gloss black for the interior parts..the patina will be lacquer checking and some thinning out to see primer type wear...I do plan on leaving as a hot rod with a more traditional type interior...I like customs, they have their place for sure, but I like hotrods far better...thanks for the tip on the wheel..would like to fit a 40 ford wheel on that column:rolleyes:

The severely radiused rear fenders give it a 'British' look...I'd replace with some originals, and raise the rear some. But the whole rear valance has been 'molded' round, so rear bumper would entail restoring the rear sheet metal to accommodate the bumper brackets, etc.
The grille would be chromed, too...but that would be in my 'perfect world'...:D
Love to see the column replaced with something like the original, with a banjo or '40 wheel...that big chrome column tilt thing is like riding a shiny beer keg.
Forgive the blasphemy, please...I just have this fantasy of finding an original '37 Flatback that I could give a nice rake to, with Cad or Olds under the hood...LaSalle box, natch!

Nice car! The details you mention would make it even nicer. You can make that SBC look pretty traditional with a little work.

  27. Inside the trunk it looks tubbed, how wide are the rear rims?

  28. I see a lot of potential there. No changes required for stance or even the wheels and tires. Interior needs to be fixed, as you already have good plans. Drive it and have fun.
