This might be a helpful thread for some of us building or upgrading our 37's. I've heard 35 and 36 doors fit a 37 and it looks like cab corners, door bottoms and front cab patch panels are the same for 35 through 37. I'm curious, is the 37 windshield frame the same as the 38 and 39? Any other interchange parts that you're aware of? I'm gonna be looking for a nice grille, but it looks like it might take a while.

I'm on the hunt for a door latch for the drivers side. I know the 35 & 36 latches were the same.

  10. The doors are interchangeable from '35-'37, although there are were several minor running changes, but none that will keep them from interchanging. The biggest one is that early '35 doors have removable garnish moldings, while late '35 through '37 do not. It's a difference that would only matter to a restorer. Car and truck windshield frames are interchangeable '37-'39. Standard cars and most trucks had a painted windshield frame; Deluxe cars got a chromed windshield frame, and the chromed w/s frame was available on trucks. On '37 and most '38 frames, the seam where the frame comes apart to install the glass is at the mid-point on each side. On late '38 and all '39 frames, the seam is closer to the bottom of the frame. Again, the early and late style frames are interchangeable, a difference that would only matter to a restorer. The '37 and '38 car and truck windshield regulators are the same. '39 car and truck uses a different regulator since '39 regulator has a round knob up on top of the dash instead of the handle like '37 and '38. The upper dash panel (where the windshield regulator handle is) is the same for '37 and '38. The garnish molding for the windshield posts and the header panel above the windshield is the same '37-'39. The toe board (slanted floor panel where the brake and clutch pedals come through) will interchange '35-'39. '35 and '36 toe boards have an extra hole for the starter pedal. '36 was the last year to have a foot operated starter switch, '37 and later has a starter button on the dash. '35-'39 transmission covers will fit '37. '35 and '36 have an extra hole for the parking brake lever, '37 and later has the parking brake lever under the dash. The rear cab panel is the same '35-'37. Hope this helps.

That's all great information. Knowing that you can search for windshield frames made for 3 years instead of just one really helps your chances of finding a decent one. Thanks!!

If your looking for a nice grille look towards 34 Fords, seems all the good '37 truck grilles went on '33-' 34 Ford coupes and roadsters..

  17. My dad always wanted to build a hot rod pickup. He started with a 37 with a rusty box and a 68 mustang donor car. Used a mustang II front, 302/C-4 trans. He made the flatbed for it. It was the only hot rod he ever built and living 35 miles from town, he re-purposed everything from the rusted-out mustang including the mustang wiring and switches.
I once drove it to town for a cruise and on the way home the headlights kept going out! When I asked him about it he said "Hell, I dunno.....I never drove it" My youngest brother got it in the will. Photo is all 3 of us brothers and the ol' man's 37. Only photo I have of it. brothers.jpg
