i have a 1937 ford pickup in which the headlight switch sits at the bottom of the steering box. i ordered a new switch and cant really figure out how it all goes together. of course the steering box is filled with oil and i dont really know how it seals with that switch at the bottom. anybody give me any advise on how it all goes together?

You do not show the other major part, which is called the headlight harness. It is wires attached to a round bakelite block that has contacts in it.

yes there is a oil "seal" at the lower end of the box, where the light switch and horn "tube" comes out of the box.

So, the switch is not really part of the steering box, it just attaches to the bottom.
