So, just got off the phone with Dad. He's at the shop coordinating some paint work with the team. Car is being primed inside the cab and trunk today and additional parts are hanging for B5 Pearl Blue. Meantime, dad is scooting around gathering up headlamps and other bits so the body man can get them ready for paint next week. All is well, hope to have photos up soon....

PS sorry, didn't see anything in all the rules I read indicating that certain suspensions and motors were verboten....so, I won't mention them again or slip up and post a photo. But, scary motors and suspensions aside, maybe you'll be slightly excited about the progress.....25 years in the making.....I'm sure excited!

Finally got a pic with the color on it. Trunk repair and floor pan mods look great. Beaded for strength and nicely done. Should be primed inside by now and I spect much of it will be blue as below in the next week or so.

Well....2015 HellCat B5 Pearl Blue. Looks good. The 80 year old stainless and chrome that polished up nicely here at the house will really look sharp on the doors and hood and quarters.

  9. Color looks really good are you going single color or two tone? I just painted mine a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing yours keep the momentum going you can see the finish line! Hobo Jim

Single color. Base and clear. He always wanted an 8 and auto so figured we'd go current tech there so he can drive it like a new one. Going to break the paint up with the original stainless trim. Keeping with the theme-what could Dad afford at 18 years old in 1959 - ride height will be 1 inch shy of stock height and any modern stuff hidden. We want to finish the look with chrome smoothies and baby moons. Not sure on interior but want to keep it in the original ribbed stitching. Ford banjo steering wheel. Strongly considering wide whites on a 600 or 650 15 or 16 wheel.

Shy of crawling under or raising the hood I want the visual approach to look much like his vision 60 years ago when he drove it to KY, put a sbc in the trunk and an auto trans in the back seat then motored back to MD only to be drafted on return! Never did get his hot rod. He's almost 80 now and the progress has him bustin a gut.

Comments from the builders and Dad that they like te color better on this car than a HellCat since the car is curvy and once outside the color shifts it mood from panel to fender.

Goin up to see it at Christmas taking up all the trim and will lay out all the lights and parts for the cosmetic assembly should have the powertrain set by then and maybe running. Prolly visit upholstering shop then to. Gathering old photos to get the right factory style ribbing and such. We are going with chrome smoothies, baby moons and wide whites.

Drivers side rear quarter is looking fine in the blue. In the 1991 wreck it was smashed in from the front of the b pillar, across the forward wheel arch up to the vent window and half back to the trunk. It pulled out nicely. We didnt have to use the quarters i cut from another dodge and only needed to weld in a new b pillar from that parts car. We were concerned how the arch would look once the new fender was in place. But so far so good and Dad says he dosn't see any ripples or flaws in the smooth curves under that medium dark color. Fenders and doors should be back on in a few weeks.

Beautiful Bessy getting ready for her coming out party. Dressed up in fenders, doors and 300 horses.

Looks like the ride height up front will work out very close to factory stance after all the sheet metal and other motor accessories slide into place. Just right for the theme for Dads car.

I am putting together a 38 Dodge Sedan, and I have a question. I am looking for the front toe board/floor panel that you have in your car. It’s a bolt in part, and I can’t seem to find one anywhere. The Plymouth Doctor carried the part, but he no longer answers his phone or emails. Sorry to post on your thread, just struggling to find the part.

Movinman, the floor section you are looking for will probably be pretty hard to find. They didn't fare very well over the years. Most I've seen reminded a guy of Swiss Cheese, full of holes.
They are not hard to make, cut a pattern from heavy cardboard and get a piece of 16 gauge steel cut to your pattern. That is how most floors and made if anything was modified from original.

Sharps40, Ol Bessy is looking GOOD! Love the blue. Gene
