The pic of the brightly colored car was sent to me by a buddy of mine a while back and the black Lincoln on the tilt tray I hauled for a friend out of CA.

There is another real nice Lincoln still being built in a hot rod shop in Longmont CO, but no pic's.

I have a mint 37 3-window Zephyr that I searched for years to find. This thing is complete and completly rust free, damn near perfect. In fact I bought it from Merv. (great gut by the way)

I planned on building it into a mild tail dragger but the last few years of surviving in business has changed my mind about a lot of things.

I may decide to sell it.

    Hey Rich,

I'm sad to hear you sold my 37 Coupe. Man I had high hopes for that car. Glad to hear you got your asking price though. Old Uncle Merv is going to think he's a Rock Star when he reads this HAMB post :D

The 37 use to be the ugly duckling of Zephyrs. There were dirt cheap at one time and pasted up for 36-37 Fords. Now adays if you want one it'll cost you big time. Merv has a beautiful cream colord 39 3 widow coupe he'd let go for the right price.

If you want to see a really kool 37 Zephyr project check out HAMB'r thats turning his into a woodie wagon. Really sweet ride.

Don't let people tell ya Zephyrs don't run a chassis underneath. They are a unibody design by simply tack welding the body to their frame. Heres a 37 that got put on the back burner but will still go the kustom route when My main man twentygallons gets freed up.

Back to the original question, I had a '40 3-window Zephyr coupe, complete but very rusty, that I sold about 10 years ago for $7,500. It had been converted to a postwar flathead merc engine but still had the Zephyr transmission. It was too far gone to restore without spending way more than I thought it could ever be worth. It became a gorgeous rod with all Ford running gear. I've thought more than once that I should have held on to it.

The differences are small----I'm just obsessed.
Here's my '39 and what it's waiting to become (yes, I'm using some '38 bits I prefer)

Then there's my rotted 38 and it's destiny.

I have a 37 sedan and a big plan for it as well

  24. Came across a really good Lincoln book this week with a ton of information as well as photos of early Lincoln's from 1920 - 1952 thought I share it with everyone:

Lincoln and Continental, Classic Motorcars - The Early Years
    Author: Marvin Earl Arnold
    First Edition 1989
    ISBN: 0-87833-691-5

Here's a photo of the book with the cover and without, also I attached a cropped photo from page 146 that shows the production model Zephyrs from 1936 - 1940.

There is a lot of confusion on the differences between the years. Here are pictures of the three windows from the start in 37' to the finish in 42'. Maybe this will help clear some of it up.

  27. I've never studied these much. Gorgeous cars though.

As desireable as they are..... who will be the first to convert a Fordor to 3wd?

What about the ideal of buying a 4door and making it into a 3window? what you think that would look like?
